After seeing him star across so many different genres over all these years – especially the superhero one, it’s undeniable that Robert Pattinson has more than just his chivalrous charms to lure his audience in. If anything, he seems to be as good in action roles as any other, judging from how his version of Batman is deemed one of his most intense roles to date.

For the part, he didn’t just don the cape of the Dark Knight and put on a pretty face; Pattinson also performed quite a few of his stunts by himself. But as praiseworthy as that is, it is also surprising, considering how, when he was working on his breakthrough role as Edward Cullen in theTwilightsaga, the actor was hilariously bad at performing his stunts!
Early Robert Pattinson Sneak Peeks Didn’t Show Him to be Good at Stunts
Though his professional career started back in 2004 with his on-screen debut in a supporting role in the made-for-television movieRing of the Nibelungs, it didn’t takeRobert Pattinsontoo long to become a household name. Besides scoring a role as Cedric Diggory in theHarry Potterlore in 2005, he soon earned his breakthrough in the industry through theTwilightfilm saga in 2008.
As many beginners go, there were some things that Pattinson lacked as well. For one, he just doesn’t seem to have been able to pull off his stunts right back in the day, as was evident from the behind-the-scenes green screen shoot snippets. To say the least,The Devil All the Timeactor was ostensibly comically bad at trying to perform his stunts by himself.

In one of the clips about the stunt work done inThe Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2shared byPVRINOX Pictures on YouTube, some really embarrassing snippets were taken of Pattinson. While swinging through the air from one place to another to land blows as a vampire while being attached to a wire was one thing, the actor’s worst enemy was something much simpler.
“The old persona is gone”: Robert Pattinson is Undergoing a Huge Transformation Ahead of The Batman 2 Filming – Report
Turns out, back then, theMickey 17star couldn’t so much as even somersault properly! For a scene, he and his co-starKristen Stewart(Bella) had to come somersaulting from behind the camera and onto the screen. However, even after repeated takes in front of and behind the lens, Pattinson just couldn’t pull off the move no matter how hard he tried, leaving the entire cast in stitches.
While that’s indeed hilarious, it might as well be surprising for many, considering how the same actor ostensibly pulled off some serious stunt scenes while working on his superhero movie,The Batman(2022). According to what the movie’s production designer James Chinlund toldBusiness Insider, theTenetstar spent considerable time in the Batmobile doing his own driving.

“Rob put it through its paces,” Chinlund said. “He was out there working it out for sure. He got it to some top speeds, he was heavily involved in his stunt-driving work.” The Batmobile, built with a powerful Chevy V8 627 horse-power engine, easily got up to 100 MPH. That said, spending time behind the wheels of such a heavy vehicle mustn’t have been easy, even for Pattinson.
Then there were the physical stunts he performed by himself. Per@filmseal on Instagramand reports fromABS-CBN News, not only did the actor train in Filipino martial arts and other Southeast Asian fighting styles for the role but he even ended up breaking his wrist while doing a stunt, as he came clean toGQ, proving he has truly come a long way since hisTwilightdays.
