In the high-stakes world ofShark Tank, investors often back out of deals for a variety of reasons, citing everything from financial concerns to market saturation. In fact, the show’s investors, Mark Cuban and Kevin O’Leary have been known to frequently pull out of pitches for strategic reasons. While they have had their own reasons for it, Lori Greiner simply refuses to accept one rationale that they constantly use.

With Greiner being known for her empathy and deep connection with young and budding entrepreneurs, her perspectives have set her apart from her fellow sharks, making her stand firm on businesses with a solo concept.
Lori Greiner’s reasoning for picking up businesses focusing on one product
Ever since Lori Greiner joined the Shark Tank team, the 54-year-old has taken many risks with young entrepreneurs, which luckily worked out for her. In fact, some of her most successful investments have come from single-product companies. However, the businesswoman’s fellow sharks do not always agree with her decisions. WithMark CubanandKevin O’Learyfrequently avoiding businesses centered around just one concept, Greiner has explained why she does not agree with their stance. In an interview withInc, she ended up sharing her reasonings.
I don’t agree with Kevin and Mark, just a product like Drop Stop has done $12 million [in sales] in just under three years. Just a product like the Scrub Daddy has done $50 million in sales. If you have one genius product and good entrepreneurs, you can turn that one product into a huge success and then of course continue to grow your business by creating other products.

Greiner continued,“You don’t have to stop and be a one-hit wonder. It’s so much easier once you’ve taken one product and made it successful to then start to think of other products that can follow along in the same product line, and I recommend that.”After all, for the star, it had all worked out rather well in her books.

Ever since joiningShark Tankin 2012, Lori Greiner has made quite a few successful investments. One of her best-known successes is Scrub Daddy, the smiling sponge that became one of the highest-grossing products in the show’s history. However, her list is a lot longer. The businesswoman has proved that she has a knack for knowing what product would work. In fact, she even ended up giving young entrepreneurs some pitch-improving tips during the same interview with Inc.
If they have a demonstration, which most everybody does, they should do that demonstration quickly, concisely, and in an exciting manner so that we get drawn in.

Apart from advising everyone to keep things exciting, Greiner also gave fans insights into what she looked for in a pitch. The 54-year-old ended up adding,“To me, a great pitch is when the person can describe what their business or product is within two sentences, so we really get what it is quick and fast.”With the inventor having been through the wringer herself when she founded For Your Ease Only and even sold her patented creation to J.C. Penney, fans could learn a thing or two from her.
