This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine includes a feature onYakuza: Like a Dragon, seeing the PS4 exclusive will be out next week in Japan. The feature includes new comments from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio who most notably revealed the game parodiesDragon Quest’s Puff Puff Girls. By paying 50,000 Yen to a “Nigi Nigi Girl”, protagonist Ichiban can become “happy”.

Puff Puff is basically the act of stuffing one’s face into the chest of a woman, and it appears in manyDragon Questgames. Obviously, you don’t see anything and it’s only implied. Initially, Puff Puff described the sound effect associated with that act and was made popular by Akira Toriyama inDragon Ball, as Kame Sennin often mentions it.

Yakuza: Like a Dragonparodies many JRPGs elements, so this reveal is far from surprising, especially considering theYakuzaseries already did way more than that with things like its adult video actresses webchat minigame. Puff Puff is typically the kind of element that showsDragon Questis an actual religion in Japan, as it never gets censored or changed despite the games being rated Cero A. Cases like Masahiro Sakurai explaining howSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatebeing rated Cero A prevented it fromincluding SNK’s Mai Shiranuishows howDragon Questis exempt from these rules.

The Famitsu feature and staff comments also reveal Masaru Watase fromYakuza 5is one of the returning characters inYakuza: Like a Dragon, and that both him and Daigo Dojima, which we already saw ingame, will play a role in the main story. We also learned that the Dragon Kart mini-game includes a course set in Kamurocho and that the game has yakuza coat of arms to collect, for an even longer lifespan.

Lastly, we have, thanks to the usual leaks, some comments onYakuza: Like a Dragonfrom the Famitsu review staff, who mentioned in a nutshell that the game feels both like a classic JRPG and a classicYakuzagame. According to the reviewers, the game’s main story is 30 hours long, and it takes over 100 hours to fully clear everything.Yakuza: Like a Dragongot a 9/9/10/10(38/40) in Famitsu. In my opinion, though, you should never give importance to Famitsu’s notes because of how illogical they are, coupled with possible conflicts of interests, as lastly seen withDeath Stranding.

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio also published new screenshots forYakuza: Like a Dragon, showing some of the new and returning characters in action. Profiles for Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Majima, and Taiga Saejima were also published. Kiryu’s profile mentions he was reported dead in 2016. The profiles for  Goro and Taiga mention no one knows what happened to them since when Ryo Aoki’s “Kamurocho 3K plan” happened, and how they are friendly enough to call each other brothers.

Yakuza: Like a Dragonalso includes aPokemonparody named Sujimon, tons of different Jobs including DLC-only ones, andFinal Fantasy-like summons. You can check all that out in ourprevious coverage, which includes the latest trailer. You can also check outour playthrough of the demo.
