InXenoblade Chronicles 3, Heroes are extra allies that can join the team but are controlled by artificial intelligence rather than the player themselves. On launch day, there were 19 Heroes. For those who have purchased the expansion pass, there are two additional Heroes, for a total of 21. To unlock most of these valuable fighters, players will need to progress the story orfree their colonies, depending on the individual Hero.

Some of these Heroes are extremely beneficial to have, due to their devastatingly powerful Chain Attack skills, the amazing classes they grant upon unlocking them, and/or their overall versatility. Meanwhile, others may contribute very little to the team. To help fans find the Heroes that can benefit their team the most, this rundown will present the overall best Heroes available.
Beware: Many of these Heroes will be from the latter half of the game, so expect spoilers.

The very first Hero isn’t accessible for long, but she gives Noah the Flash Fencer class. This class is both easy to learn and has skills that are valuable in the long run, such as Capable Hands, which fills over half the Talent Art gauge at the start of battle. She’s an excellent tutorial Hero, perfect for learning arts from in the early game.
Noah especially benefits from using this class, once he unlocks a character-exclusive Talent Art later on in the story. What holds Ethel back is the inability to use her for a majority of the game. Also, many classes obtained later outshine Flash Fencer in power and speed.

Alexandria is an optional Hero, obtainable as early as chapter 3 but rather hard to unlock due to her level. She does really nice damage and her Incursor class has a very high critical hit rate. It is one of the best attacker classes in the game when equipped on playable characters.
There’s an important downside to raw offense, however: Pure damage is useful, but parties need more than that to succeed. Unlike Triton and other Heroes, she doesn’t have much else to offer and lends little to an overall strategic approach.

Sailor Triton is a bit of a strange case. As an ally in battle he’s a bit lackluster, but the class he gives players is the most customizable and potentially overpowered in the game. The Soulhacker class allows party members to steal an attack from each unique monster in the game and use those attacks in their arsenal. Perhaps Triton’s real treasure was this class all along.

It’s easily one of the best classes in the game when used by main party members (once better skills are unlocked), but Triton himself can’t take full advantage of the vast customization the class offers. Soulhacker is valuable enough to make Triton better than other Heroes that are only useful for their class and skills, but in combat he doesn’t compare to those that can carry their own weight.
Isurd is a competent healer, but his Chain Attacks really shine. Completing his Chain Order reduces enemy physical and ether defense by 30% each. Additionally, if he is the character to land the final hit in any Chain Order, he will guarantee a bravo score. He is incapable of scoring higher or lower than 150%.

This makes him an excellent Hero to pick for consistency, but other more risk and reward-oriented Heroes can do better, generally boasting higher damage potential and more useful Healing Arts. Isurd is the first Hero on this list that can carry the team in combat as opposed to mainly just assisting with damage.
The Fullmetal Jaguar class is one of the best attacker classes in the entire game. It has the highest damage multiplier and is obtainable as early as chapter 3 by recruiting Gray. He is a mighty force on the battlefield and surprisingly easy to unlock for how useful he is.

In Chain Attacks he can boost damage dealt to low HP enemies by 100%, which means he is the best at finishing off opponents, but that makes it a bit situational. His true potential is limited and a little one-dimensional inthis fantastic RPG.
Ghondor is a Hero obtained very late in the story. She hits extremely hard and has the ability to raise the critical hit rate by 150% during Chain Attacks. On top of that she can self-reactivate without taking away from the normal amount of characters players get back.
Gray does have a slightly higher damage multiplier, but his Chain Order is only effective against low HP enemies. Ghondor’s works under all circumstances, so she’s more consistently useful. The reason she doesn’t rank higher despite being perhaps the best attacker in the game is because support Heroes tend to be more useful in and of themselves. Healing, reviving fallen allies, and crucial passive abilities are more helpful than these NPC warriors just hitting hard.
The queen’s Lifesage class is one of the best support classes in the game. Having even one party member use this class gives the team a very solid healer with the option to equip three healing arts; Saber Slash, Redemption, and Divine Sword.
Nia is also able to revive every fallen party member at once in Chain Attacks, which is an incredible comeback mechanic. While Nia is in the party the battle music will change to a remix of a theme from the previous series installment, which is a nice extra for returning fans. A few Heroes even top Nia in all-around utility, however.
Troubadour is a top tier support class. It gives players easy access to the Burst Art Snowdrift, which is great for enemy combos and collecting material. When grinding for very hard to obtain enemy drops, she is definitely among the best to use. In Chain Attacks, Miyabi can pass her own tactical points to Mio, which can be great when employed by strategic players.
RELATED:Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Character & Regions ListCompleting her Chain Order will result in getting one more character back than usual. There’s also a 30% chance of getting yet another, a potential return of five characters. Due to her diversity in healing, item farming, and valuable Chain Attack skills, she outshines almost every other support Hero.
Tanks in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 aren’t as necessary as they werein previous installments, due to the larger party size. There is almost no situation where it is better to use a tank Hero in the party over an attacker or support. Ashera is the single exception due to her incredibly overpowered Chain Attack abilities. She can increase damage by 200%, give every party member the power charge status (increasing the strength of the next Attack Art used), and will force players to always get an amazing score.
Ashera tops many attackers and supports in their own categories. For example Isurd can only guarantee a bravo, while Ashera will always get the best score in the game. With her in the party, players can dominate extremely powerful bosses by simply starting a Chain Attack. As far as downsides of the Hero go, though, she can’t revive allies, and is only above average before a Chain Attack is activated.
Fiona is potentially the most useful Hero in the game. Her Signifier class allows anyone who uses it access to a Talent Art which will grant two random buffs to all party members. This may seem unreliable at first glance, but it can very consistently stack valuable boosts. Her Resonant Flag art can share any buffs she has with the rest of the party, too.
Additionally, she is the only character in the game who can refill the Chain Attack meter while one is active. This means players get an entire extra turn to make their most powerful attacks even stronger, while boosting the chance of being able to finish with an Ouroboros. There is little downside at all to using this Hero, in light of the tremendous bonuses she offers.
