If that wasn’t enough, an anime adaptation of the series has also been announced. What started as a distraction and a hobby turned into something so glorious and grand. During an interview, TurtleMe delved into the struggles behind the success. He took risks and made some sacrifices by giving up a great job to pursue an unconventional career.

The Beginning After the Endwas TurtleMe’s Leap of Faith

Before the web novel started its run on Tapas in 2017, TurtleMe had already been working on it since 2014. He collaborated with Fuyuki23 after Tapas approached him. Since then,The Beginning After the Endhas come a long way. The choice to focus entirely on the web novel and quit the job wasn’t easy, as his parents had expected him to lead a normal life, where he studies, earns well at a proper job, and eventually marries and has kids.

He started on the ‘right path’ when he graduated from Berkeley and worked at JP Morgan Chase. However, he gave all of that up for the story he had in mind for years. In aninterview with Forbes, TurtleMe shared what it was like for him to choose an unconventional career path as an Asian kid and everything that was at stake with this one choice.

A lot of Korean parents like mine gave up their stability and moved to the US. I was always aware of how much they sacrificed to give me the life I have here today. With that sacrifice, there are expectations: you have to go to a good college, get a good job, do those standard life manual things.

He also shared that he didn’t tell his parents right away and when he did eventually, they didn’t have much to say. After all, he had given up the dream job for many when everything was going well for him.

The Beginning After the End AnimeAdaptation is On Its Way

Every year, numerous Isekai anime are churned out and they are almost identical to one another except for a few tweaks here and there. The Beginning After the Endhas many similar tropes. However, it stands out with its world-building and execution. Many fans even compare it to the best Isekai series,Mushoku Tensei.

With the anime adaptation on its way, fans are on the fence, wondering whether to be excited or cautious. The reason behind this approach is the involvement of Studio A-CAT, as their track record is quite lackluster with no remarkable shows under their belt. So, there’s not much to look forward to.

The anime will premiere on Crunchyroll in 2025, and no release date or window has been revealed yet. However, the anime adaptation can work wonders as a promotional strategy for the web novel by bringing the attention of anime fans to the source material. Still, it’s a shame that such a renowned work will probably have a subpar anime at best.
