Anyone can beat Ragetail if they come into the fight with some knowledge to help back up their skills. Even if you’ve played the game for dozens of hours, learning how to take down this Kemono in detail can help speed up the farming process. Here’s everything you need to know about the general strategy to beat Ragetail, its weaknesses, how to deal with the trickier moves, and which weapons work best against it.

How To Beat Ragetail

As cute as it is, Ragetail is nothing to laugh at. It can deal out some serious punishment and surprise you with its agility, but as long as you know what this Kemono is capable of, it’s not nearly as challenging.

As the Cyclopedia description hints,Ragetail is at its most dangerous when it’s far away from you. This oversized rat has a number of long-range attacks that can close the gap fast and surprise you. Don’t take these attacks lightly. If you’re not prepared to dodge or block them, they could wear your health down.

These quick long-rage attacks are certainly powerful, but they come at a cost. After nearly any long-distance attack, Ragetail will pause for a moment. This is a great time to strike if you’re in a good position to do so, but you need to be careful. Ragetail can use its aforementioned tail to unleash devastating close-range attacks, so if you overstay your welcome trying to rack up damage, these attacks can easily punish you and drop your health.

After unleashing a close-range attack or two,Ragetail will usually try to back upbefore moving into another long-range attack. The timing of this retreat can punish you for trying to heal, so make sure you know what Ragetail is doing before popping open a flask of healing water.

However, as far as Kemono go,Ragetail has low damage and can’t take much of a beating. If you’re trying to kill Ragetail fast, don’t be afraid to play aggressively, even when your health starts getting low. If you keep up the pressure, there’s a good chance you’ll knock Ragetail over, which will give you time to heal or focus on a specific body part.

If you’re really getting stuck on Ragetail, remember that Wild Hearts isa multiplayer game. you’re able to always summon in help to make the game just a bit easier.

Ragetail Moves To Watch Out For

Like most Kemono, Ragetail has a handful of particularly tricky moves. There are four in particular that you should watch out for:a charge attack, a huge tail slam from range, repeated tail slams, and a series of rapid bounces.

Charge Attack

Every once in a while, Ragetail might settle into a crouch, start pawing at the ground, and charge forward. This attack comes out relatively quickly and can be tricky to dodge. The most consistent strategy is tostow your weapon, start sprinting, and dodge-slide between Ragetail’s legs.

If you have the Bulwark fusion karakuri, you could also conjure it just before the charge to stun Ragetailand give you plenty of time to deal damage. The Spring karakuri is also another great dodging option for this attack.

Charged Tail Slam

After being enraged, Ragetail can unleash a tail slam attack at far range. Just before this move comes out, Ragetail will sit back on its tail and hold for a bit before launching itself into the air toward you. This attack has an incredibly wide stagger area and can hurt quite a lot if it connectswith you.

The most consistent strategy is to simply time your dodge right when Ragetail lands to avoid taking damage, but if that’s proving too tricky, using the Spring once Ragetail leaps into the air will almost always take you out of range of the attack. If you successfully dodge the attack, remember to build a stack of Crates and launch an especially powerful attack off of it.

Repeated Tail Slams

Once enraged, Ragetail’s short-rage tail slam can be chained. If you’re close there’s a chance the Kemono unleashes a string of tail slams, each at a different angle. The trickiest part of this move is thatit can be hard to tell whether Ragetail is doing a normal slam or starting to chain a few together.

This string of attacks can be dodged, butit’s much more consistent to simply run away.Don’t attempt to circle around Ragetail as a single well-placed slam can stagger you and set you up to be hit by the next one. Dodge backward or use a Spring to get away fast. If you get outside of Ragetail’s reach while the attack is still going, throw down a Spring or a few Crates and attack off of them to make the most of this move.

Rapid Bounces

Sometimes,Ragetail will close in through a series of rapid bounces before unleashing an attack at close range. These hops are fast and have a mean habit of taking Ragetail out of your field of vision before it attacks.

When you see this move start, don’t attempt to dodge or use a Spring.Ragetail will hop around four times, and each one can cover an insane distance to get close to you. Instead of dodging right away, you need to wait until Ragetail gets close. Once it’s in range, it’ll try to hit you with a close-range attack, and that’s your moment to dodge or run away.

This finishing attack can be nearly any close-range attack in Ragetail’s arsenal, so don’t assume.Try to keep your eyes on Ragetail at the end of its hopsto determine what attack it’s moving into.

Ragetail’s Weaknesses

Ragetail is a plant-based monster with very little in the way of specific strengths or weaknesses. It is slightly weaker to fire damage and slightly stronger against piercing damage(which the Bow and Bladed Wagasa deal).

However, none of these elemental resistances are really worth mentioning:Ragetail generally does not resist any type of damage well,so simply bring a weapon you know you may deal a lot of damage with, fast.

Parts Of Ragetail To Target

The same idea holds true for part damage on Ragetail. While its head is slightly weaker than the rest of its body,it won’t give you too significant of a damage boost. It’s worth trying to hit the head if you can (since you’ll also be able to get extra Ragetial Fangs), but don’t do so if it means you’ll miss an attack.

While disabling Ragetail’s tail will limit its attack range, don’t prioritize damaging the tail too much. These tail-based attacks are not too difficult to dodge in the first place, and the tail can withstand a surprising amount of damage. If you’re trying to kill this Kemono as fast as possible, simply hit where you can, attacking the tail or head if convenient.

Weapons To Use Against Ragetail

Ragetail’s mix of long-range mobility and close-range punishing attacks can be a tricky combo to counteract, but it can be done. With slower weapons the key is toutilize the brief moments after a gap-closer attack to unleash as much damage as possiblewhile, with quicker weapons, you should focus on baiting out close-range attacks after dealing damage.

If you stay too long with a slow weapon, Ragetail will move into a close-rage attack, but that attack might not hit you as long as you’re moving slightly. It can be worth it to try sticking close, even if it’s dangerous, as bigger weapons will let you knock Ragetail over easier and give you a better opportunity to unleash massive damage.Consider using Crate Karakuri even for small gapsto make the most of your damage before launching into a combo.

If you have a quicker weapon, you can try to hit Ragetail after a long-distance attack and thenuse the natural movement of your weapon to evade the resulting close-range attack. If you pull this off, you can stick close to Ragetail for quite a while before it finally decides to run away and set up another long-distance attack. However, you have to keep in mind that Ragetail is slightly more resistant to piercing weapons like the Bow and Bladed Wagasa, so avoid those if possible.

In general, the Bow and the Hand Cannon are not great weapons against Ragetailsince the Kemono can punish your ranged attacks much better than most creatures. However, as long as you’re not afraid tolet your Tsukumo run interference for you, you can beat Ragetail with a ranged weapon. Instead, opt for melee weapons that fit your play style.
