Deadlockis in closed beta currently, and it has already crossed the 90,000 concurrent mark, which is already a high number for some of the released games as well. However, not everything about the game is enticing, and one broken feature is causing some problems to a lot of players.

Deadlock’s Broken Feature Is A Conscious Decision, Now Backfired

Deadlockis a third-person hero shooter game with a distinct pool of heroes, maps, and equipment that are unique to the world of the game.

The game also provides players with an option to pause the game mid-rounds, a feature that is unlikely to find its place in the world of online shooters. Nevertheless, Valve Corporation has made the conscious decision of incorporating this feature into the game.

The pause feature has been drawing a lot of criticism lately as it is being heavily abused for cheating, forcing Valve to ban players who are using it.

This act by the developer seems to be a bit extreme, as players are questioning why such drastic measures should be taken for using something that was intended to be used in the first place.

Players who are using the pause feature without regard to the other players in the game again and again are being duly punished for their actions. This speaks highly of the amount of freedom that can be given for an online shooter game.

Online Shooter Titles Need Some Restrictions

The world of online games is a highly competitive space where millions of players meet on a daily basis to indulge in a good game against each other. It is also very important to establish a healthy community with boundaries, as these spaces often tend to get out of hand.

A similar thing is currently happening withDeadlock, as players are given the freedom to manipulate the pause feature in the game, which is turning out to be very annoying for players who are on the other side of the spectrum.

Nevertheless,Deadlockis shaping up to be a highly anticipated gamewith a lot of players waiting to ger their hands on it.

Players need to understand that pausing a game amidst a highly competitive space can result in disrupting the experience of playing the game. Having said that, Valve really needs to look into the matter and come up with something else to tackle the situation instead of banning players.

Deadlockis still in its early development phase with lots of temporary art and experimental gameplay, and the same is mentioned on Steam as well. The game is only available via invitation by a playtester.
