However, fans couldn’t believe that she would put herself through so much pain for her role.

Beckinsale posted the photos on her Instagram stories as aresponse to a criticismshe got for her film. She shared a snippet of The Guardian’s review of her movie on her story, which suggested that she heavily relied on stunt doubles for the role. The reviewer wrote (via The Guardian):
Stunt doubles probably did the heavy lifting in the blurrily edited hand-to-hand combat scenes and sequences where Graves flies through the air holding on to a massive drone, but you can see it’s clearly Beckinsale running around in the medium shots and closeups.
Beckinsale tagged Gabriella Morpeth, who worked in the movie’s costume department, jokingly telling her,“Just a couple of closeups, @gabriellaclaremorpeth”(via PEOPLE). She then shared images of bruises, scrapes, and other injuries to her body. While the actress remained light about the whole situation, the injuries look worrisome. She also shared a pic in a harness, hinting that she did some pretty dangerous stunts for the film.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the actress shared a video of her performing a stunt. She captioned the video,“Kicking impeccably chic ass 🩷and a couple of close ups doesn’t half hurt lol”(via PEOPLE). Her stunt double for Canary Black, Laura Vörtler, commented that Beckinsale did more than the“medium and close up shots”.

The new Instagram photos have confirmed that she was still recovering from the injuries when she attended the event. She has also been battling family tragedies, dealing with the death of her stepfather and her mother’s stage 4 cancer. She wrote about her difficult journey earlier this year (via THR):
I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief, quite quickly and then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus which made me vomit copious amounts of blood. I found eating very hard and I just worked very very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father.
