The show also played a huge role in Michael Weatherly’s career, giving him his big break in the industry as Tony DiNozzo. While Tony quickly became a fan favorite, his storyline gained even more momentum when actress Cote de Pablo joined the show in 2005 as Ziva David.

Both characters had undeniable chemistry on screen, but despite their on-screen romance, the two actors never dated in real life. In a past interview withEntertainment Weekly,the actress revealed that their relationship was far from what viewers may have imagined.

She explained that the duo felt an instant connection, adding,“We sort of hated each other immediately, and loved each other immediately.”Cote de Pablo also emphasized that the duo had contrasting personalities, which sparked both tension and a deep bond that was more like a sibling relationship than a romantic one.

Over time, they became incredibly close, but it was always a platonic relationship, and she even described Weatherly as being“like my brother”in a 2013 interview withRachael Ray. Cote de Pablo has been very open about the qualities she looks for in a romantic partner. Though her character shared a passionate relationship with Tony DiNozzo onNCIS, her preferences are based on meaningful real-life connections.

Although the actress is not married, she had a long-term relationship with actor Diego Serrano from 2000 to 2015. In a 2012 interview withPreventionmagazine, she humorously called Serrano the“worst influence”in her life, but also praised him for encouraging her to live more freely.
