Since it took the streaming scene by storm, Netflix has had some great shows available on its service. However, as soon as the streaming giant became known for its quality prestige dramas, it also became quite notorious for canceling some of its best shows without any rhyme or reason, despite some of them being fan favorites.

Mindhunter

Mindhunteris one of those shows that needed more love from Netflix, but instead ended up being shelved for good. Of course, this had quite the reaction from fans, who were a little miffed about shows likeJupiter’s LegacyandMindhunterbeing canceled, while other more subpar shows get renewed again and again.

There is no way that Mindhunter is going to come back, reveals David Fincher

Despite having two brilliant seasons that fans adored,Mindhunterwill not be getting a third season. The reason, as cited byDavid Fincher, is the fact that Netflix just doesn’t want to invest the kind of money that the show would require, given that it does yield the return that is expected. Fans took to the internet to voice their discontent with this decision.

That’s insane. Mindhunter is probably a top 5 show on the platform and we can’t get another season. Meanwhile, we’ll probably get 10 more seasons of Emily in Paris

While the cringe shows are getting 4-5 seasons but the most loved shows are getting cancelled because of investment.

@netflixwill green light some slop that gets 3 viewers per episode for 5 years but they won’t bring back one of the best TV shows ever made? Cool. 👍🏻

Who is investing in the slop to the point that the shows people actually like get canceled but the cringe slop get 10 year runs

MindhunterSeason 3 might have been too expensive for Netflix, but there are some shows that Netflix has actually managed to sustain. These shows have also received a lot of love from audiences, but are also heading toward the end as their creators run out of stories to tell. Given that Netflix might just refocus on developing new IPs, it is possible that some of the shows that it has canceled get another shot since there is enough distance between their cancellation and the present day.

Netflix needs to focus on cultivating its load-bearing library

Shows likeThe Umbrella AcademyandStranger Thingshave pulled in a lot of audiences for Netflix. These shows, along with some others that Netflix canceled before they could finish, were the bedrock of the prestige content that streaming service would become famous for. However, Netflix is investing in live-action adaptations of animated shows, which might be its strategy going forward.

While shows likeOne Piecehave received rave reviews from fans,Avatar:The Last Airbenderhas been viewed with more suspicion. With so many of Netflix’s great shows ending, it is imperative that the streaming service finds and cultivates the load-bearing shows on its platform, which will be able to bring in new audiences and keep the ones that it has engaged.
