When it comes to shooters set in the grim dark future of the 41st millennium,Space Marine 2 may get all the attention, but there’s something forboomer shooter fanstoo.
At today’sWarhammer Skulls Showcase, where Games Workshop showed off several upcoming Warhammer 40,000 games, the publisher revealed Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2.

The game is a sequel tothe 2023 boomer shooterthat put players in the power armor of the Space Marine Malum Caedo to blast and carve their way through the legions of Chaos.
A Sequel And A Spin-Off
Boltgun 2 will see Caedo purging the forces of the Chaos Space Marines again, putting him up against foes like the usual Terminators and cultists, as well as daemons like Bloodletters and Bloodcrushers of Khorne.
The focus seems to be mostly on the legions of the blood god this time around, while the previous game had more of the daemons of Nurgle and Tzeentch to support its heretics.

It will have a non-linear single-player story, with branching storylines bringing Caedo to multiple different worlds and environments, and a host of new weapons to help you stop this Chaos incursion. It’s set to release in 2026 on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

These shooters may not have the latest and greatest graphics, but they’ve got all the gameplay you need.
Boltgun 2 wasn’t all that was revealed for fans of the original, though.

The event also announced the free-to-play spin-off Boltgun: Words of Vengeance, aTyping of the Dead-style gamewhere players type out classic Imperium-themed lines like “Purge the unclean,” “Zeal is its own excuse,” and “Thin your paints” (this one feels personal) to exterminate heretics and daemons.
Words of Vengeance is available now, in case you just can’t wait for Boltgun 2.

The spin-off is pitched as a “reimagining” of the original Boltgun, and will pit you against similar foes with its very different playstyle on the same Forge World of Graia.
I hope you’ve brushed up on how to spell words like manufactorum, exterminatus, and Ghazghkull, since, if it’s as fast-paced as the original Boltgun, any typo you make could be the end of the line.
