James Gunn’s DCU has finally started production withSuperman, the first film in the new and improved shared universe of DC superheroes. Among the slew of things that were announced for the first chapter of the universe was a show calledWaller, focusing on Amanda Waller and her work behind the scenes of creating Task Force X, otherwise known as the Suicide Squad.

Wallercould set up the road to bringing the Suicide Squad into the DCU. It is already known that the Peacemaker would be carrying over from the DCEU into the DCU, which could open the door for other characters to make a renewed appearance in the new DC universe. However, this could result in an iteration of the Suicide Squad without the likes of Margot Robbie, as another actress might take up the role of Harley Quinn.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn might not be on the Suicide Squad
InBlack Adam, we were introduced to a maximum-security prison, a Task Force X black site in Antarctica, that was strong enough to hold Black Adam, among other metahumans that are considered dangerous. This black site, thanks to being related to Task Force X, is probably underAmanda Waller, and would probably be carried over to the DCU as well.
This would mean that Amanda Waller has her pick from some of the strongest villains in the DC Universe to create and operate a new and improved Suicide Squad, one that could have a movie of its own, but not include any of the characters from its previous iteration, includingMargot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn.

Robbie’s Harley Quinn has received widespread acclaim from fans, being one of the chief draws of the DCEU’s version of the Suicide Squad, directed byDavid Ayer. The character returned for James Gunn’sThe Suicide Squad, a soft reboot that still existed in the DCEU. Her character returned with Waller and Rick Flag, the only two carryovers from Ayer’s iteration of the team.
Margot Robbie Has High Expectations From Successor Lady Gaga For Harley Quinn Role in Joker 2
Margot Robbie wishes Harley Quinn would be played by other actresses
Speaking toVarietyto talk about whether she would reprise her role as Harley Quinn, the actress had this to say:
“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her. Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, “What are they going to do with her?” The options are endless.”

Just like there have been multiple iterations of the Joker and Batman, with each version bringing something unique to the character, it seems like Robbie had a similar vision for Quinn, which might be realized given the various versions of the character that have existed simultaneously with Robbie’s.
Be it Tara Strong’s version of the character in the Arkham series, or Kaley Cuoco’s portrayal of the character in the Harley Quinn animated series, the character has been getting some unique treatments from a very talented bunch of actors. WithJoker: Folie à Deuxset to star Lady Gaga as another version of Quinn, it is safe to say that his vision for the character is on its way to being recognized. Perhaps the DCU would also see a new version of the character?
