The host also asked if the viewers would see some flashbacks in the second season between Dwight and Joe. To this Winter added:
Dwight is a guy who, you know, for twenty five years, kind of abandoned his family. More as a way of, as he said, psychologically protecting them, but it was really probably more about him. And now he’s trying to make up for lost time. He’s trying to repair the broken relationship with his estranged sister, and certainly his daughter and grandchildren. So, throughout the course of that, we’ll get more insight into what the early days of that family was like.

Winter made it a point to not reveal any major details about the show. But given that he talked in detail about Joe’s character, it would be interesting to see if he makes a flashback appearance in the show or not. This would definitely add another layer of emotional turmoil in Dwight’s life as he navigates his new life in Tulsa Oklahoma.

I mean this, Tyson. I think you’re the greatest heavyweight that ever lived, and I’m a boxing historian. I study this closely.
