Since its inception in 1997, theFalloutseries has been a popular video game franchise around the world. After Interplay and Black Isle, Bethesda took over the franchise and gave fans some exceptionalFalloutvideo games. Fans have been waiting for nearly a decade now for the nextFalloutgame, but Bethesda gave fans the sameFalloutexperience, just in the form of a TV series.
With the help of Todd Howard, the mastermind behind theFalloutandThe Elder Scrollsseries, a series that was canonical to theFalloutgames was released in April 2024. The show was a massive success and it’s safe to say that Howard’s approach was what made it special. On several occasions, he has explained that he treated the series like another entry in the video game series. The fact that the series was a standalone entry seemingly confirms that it could generate spinoffs in the future as theFalloutuniverse is quite big.
Multiple Spinoffs Of TheFalloutSeries Could Get Developed In The Future
Earlier this year, Todd Howard, the game director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, appeared onKinda Funny Gamescastto talk about theFalloutTV series. During the conversation, Howard explained his approach,
I wanted to approach it as an entry in the franchise as opposed to you know a direct translation of an existing story.

Howard’s idea of treating the show as a video game installment will certainly benefit the studio in the future. The film could branch out spinoffs in the future as they never directly translated the events of the video games, leaving out the possibility of covering the rest of theFalloutuniverse in the future.

It’s safe to say that there is a lot of hype for the nextFalloutgame, however, players might have to wait for at least a decade. In 2022, Howard toldIGNthat the nextElder Scrollsgame is in pre-production, but they will only move toFallout 5after its release,
Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well.

Despite Howard’s clear statement, players are speculating that Bethesda is secretly working on the nextFalloutgame and the studio might reveal some information about it duringthe first-everFallout Day Broadcaston October 23rd.
It’s also clear that this is not the end of theFalloutseries as it has been confirmed that a second season is on the way. The series, which can be streamed on Amazon Prime, was well-received by the fans. Thanks to the great visions of Graham Wagner, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Jonathan Nolan, and Todd Howard, the series didn’t end up like some other video game adaptations that seem like cashgrab.
