It has long been rumored that The Sentry will be making his MCU debut inThunderbolts*, played by Lewis Pullman. However, despite the actor being revealed to play ‘Bob’, who might not be short for ‘Robert’, as, in Robert Reynolds, The Sentry, audiences still remain in the dark whether Marvel’s own expy of Superman will be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It seems that Lewis Pullman himself is in the dark about the alignment of his character, who could be a villain or a hero in Thunderbolts*. While The Sentry has been wholly heroic for the most part, the character has found himself on the wrong side of history more often than not. Not only that, but the character has also heralded The Void, a malicious entity that bonded itself with The Sentry’s mind.
Lewis Pullman would really like to know where he stands in the MCU
Speaking withGamesRadar+, Lewis Pullman talked about how much in the dark he himself is about the character that he is playing inThunderbolts*. Given the nebulous alignment that The Sentry has often has, it only lends credence to the fact that the actor might be playing the Sentry after all. He said:
God, I would love to know. I genuinely, I don’t know. It’s one of the exciting parts about being invited into the whole universe is there’s a lot of unknowns, and you just kind of got to go with the flow and embrace the unknowns of it all.

The Sentry might be the US Government’s way of leveling the playing field

Perhaps the government, with the likes of Red Hulk and Sentry, is trying to recreate the Avengers, which is also something that Ross will attempt to convince Sam to do inCaptain America: Brave New World. This could lead to a version of the team called The Dark Avengers, which could serve as antagonist to an Avengers film beforeDoomsdayandSecret Wars, bringing in some much-needed connectivity in the franchise once again.
Thunderbolts*will hit theatres on August 15, 2025
