Black Myth: Wukong, the RPG based on Chinese Mythology is due for release on 20 August. However ahead of this, fans have voiced their concerns that the game will suffer the same fate as another recent PlayStation title which many players had high hopes for.

Despite the legacy that the originalFinal Fantasy 7holds, the second part of the remake which was released on 29 February has fared less favorably than the first part which, despite some small niggles, was mostly well received by fans.
Black Myth: Wukong – Doomed to Fail?
As with most upcoming games, there is always fan expectations as to how they perceive the success will be. WhilstBlack Myth: Wukonghas been praised for its stunning visuals, it appears that some players fear the worst with one commenting“yea this game gonna flop like rebirth”.

Fans took to Social Media following the latest gameplay release trailer and it’s safe to say that they did not pull their punches on what they thought about the upcoming game ahead of release next month.

Whilst the majority of comments on the original post on X are full of praise and looking forward to the release of the game, there were those who felt the need to take pot-shots.

Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times for games to be deemed failures or flops before they are officially released. While fans are entitled to their opinions, it must be disheartening for the countless people who have worked tirelessly on the game.
What Can Fans Expect From The Game?
It has been reported that the upcoming RPG will not feature any difficulty options and Devs expect the combat to be challenging, without frustrating players. In addition to this, there be different spells and transformations available to aid players, which is hoped will increase the enjoyment of the game.

Despite these combat details, it washighlighted that the game would not be a Soulslike game. Whilst the majority of Soulslike games have a focus on timing and patience,Black Myth: Wukonghas a more fast-paced approach to the combat system and despite comparisons to other titles, it’s clear that the Game Science title will something quite unique.
At the time of writingBlack Myth: Wukongis currently the most wish-listed game on Steam. So it would appear that there is a huge appetite for the game and despite the negative comments on Social Media there is an expectation that is much more than just the stunning graphics the game offers.
