Madame Webis the first film from the comic book genre that was going to set the tone for this year of superhero cinema going forward in 2024 amidst the Superhero Fatigue that has swept the world. And despite sizable hopes, this project featuring Dakota Johnson as the titular protagonist miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the critics and fans alike, resulting in a flop.

But instead of showing support for the film and trying to mediate the negative impact conventionally, the actress seems to have gone on the offensive and talked about things that were wrong with it from the start and has even claimed that she hasn’t watched this movie herself.
This amount of negative publicity has naturally not sat right with Sony executives who are now mighty upset with her, unlike her co-star Sydney Sweeney, who joked about this failure recently onSNL.

Sony Executives Are Angered By Dakota Johnson’s Negative Remarks About The Failure OfMadame Web
Films are a gamble for the production studios since they cannot be said with absolute certainty that they will prove to become a box office success, and if they do fail, usually the cast, as well as the company, goes into damage control protocol to save as much as they can.
But it seems likeDakota Johnson, the lead star for the recently releasedMadame Web, has gone rogue and decided to lay it all bare, which in simple terms, means that she has herself talked negatively about the film and what resulted in its failure.

Despite Catastrophic Reviews, Madame Web Serves Henry Cavill’s Argylle a Humiliating Box Office Defeat
TheFifty Shades of Greystar has gone on multiple public records to state how there were problems with the project from the start while not taking responsibility for any of it herself and how she had a suspicion that it might not work out in the end, even claiming that she hasn’t watched this film herself.
Naturally, the bosses at Sony are not happy with all the negative press the film’s getting thanks to the lead star’s bad-mouthing of it. In a recent revelation by an inside source (viaDaily Mail), it was revealed how the executives at Sony are taking all of this, claiming that Johnson might be in hot waters, saying:

“Producers andSonyaren’t laughing overDakota‘s continued dragging of how she sees the fallout ofMadame Weband how she isn’t taking any responsibility for its lackluster results, Not every movie is going to work, but a lot of hard work is put towards even bad movies and for your star to s**t on it is a bad look.’
While her co-starSydney Sweeneymay have recently gone onSaturday Night Liveand joked about the film’s failure at the box office during her monologue performance, it was acceptable since they were light jokes and nothing serious compared to the constant belittling of the entire project that Johnson has done.

Why IsMadame WebA Failure?
A huge reason that led the film to failure has to be the entrainment factor missing from the entire runtime of the story that was being told to the audience.
“It was a real learning experience”: Dakota Johnson Reveals the Exact Moment Madame Web Became a Disaster
Right off the bat,Madame Webwas labeled by most fans and critics alike to be a boring movie through and through and highly confusing and vague. The action sequences that happened were exceptionally clunky and sluggish, which, combined with a confusing and disengaging narrative, led to the film not becoming worth anyone’s time to go to the cinemas for it.
