As famed as Taylor Sheridan is for his exceptional storytelling skills, he has also been gaining quite a lot of backlash and controversies as of late for the same. While hisYellowstonefinale, which has been rated critically low by many, is one to earn him this criticism, some elements that he incorporated inLandmanhave also been contributing to the backlash against him.

But there are two sides to this coin as well. For one, Sheridan was receiving quite the hate for crafting Ali Larter’s Angela the way he did, with many expressing annoyance at the personality she sports and simply the aura surrounding her character. However, fans now finally seem to relate to just why the mastermind decided to write her the way he did – with perfection.
Hot Take: Taylor Sheridan’s crafting of Ali Larter’s Angela is just perfect
Ever sinceLandmanmade its way to the screens, fans have earned quite a bit of interest in nearly all aspects of it except one: Tommy Norris’ ex-wife and the mother of his two kids, Angela, played by Ali Larter. To say the least, she has been crafted so despicably in the eyes of many that people felt it would bethe character herself who would end up dooming the series.
For one, the way she was introduced spoke volumes about how much she would be hated: She bombarded her ex-husband with those constant, never-ending FaceTime calls, through which she gave him a minor heartache every time. At the same time, she also came across as an over-sexualized desperate character who just wanted Tommy to feel her absence.

However, while this character garnered a lot of controversy and backlash in the beginning, now fans finally seem to understand why she has been crafted that way. If anything, now a lot of fans and viewers feel that writer cum showrunnerTaylor Sheridanactually did the perfect job of writing the character, and Larter did an even better job at bringing her to life.
Taylor Sheridan May Have Already Inserted Himself Into ‘Landman’ After Stealing Yellowstone Scenes, Frustrating Theory Claims – “Role of super alpha bad-a** rich man”
As Redditor r/quixoticwarrior shared their respective opinion onReddit,
Angela is a character that definitely elicits a strong sense of revulsion in me. That’s why I say she is well-written. I think the writers of this show are doing that on purpose to illustrate a certain kind of woman who is a “financial/emotional parasite” that clings to successful men.

Adding to this, the Redditor then went on to emphasize that Angie’s character is as realistic as ever because people like that actually exist in real. “I know a woman like Angela in real life that has all of the same crazy behaviors PLUS a substance abuse problem,” the review continued. “Every time I see Angela on screen I cringe, but also marvel at how well they captured her character.”
That being said, it seems like even those fans who were previously under the impression that Larter’s character was simply added to the series as an unwanted entertaining addition, are now realizing that the way the character has been crafted holds a much deeper purpose. Thus, they are expressing their appreciation to Sheridan for crafting her the way that he did.

Fans are backing up the “Angela is crafted perfectly” motion
On the one hand, fans are already disappointed with Sheridan, especially with how he brought about that concluding episode ofYellowstone‘s incredibly anticipated season 5 part 2 — so much so that they have no expectations from him with this respective lore either. On the other hand, fans are also commending him for writingAli Larter‘s character this way.
Taking to the comment section of the discussion thread on Reddit, they are saying:

Taylor Sheridan’s Creepy Writing of Daddy-Daughter Scenes in ‘Landman’ Follows a ‘Yellowstone’ Pattern That’s Raising Serious Doubts About Him
Well, it’s inevitable that Sheridan’s writing of Angie has sparked a change of heart among fans. Initially met with criticism, the character’s purpose and realism are now being appreciated. That said, while he may have lagged withYellowstone, it’s clear that Sheridan’s writing has achieved its intended effect with this series, sparking a nuanced conversation among fans.
