The battle between Marine Hero Garp and former Navy Admiral Aokiji has taken the world by storm with the recent episodes of theOne Pieceanime. While this battle has excited anime fans, manga fans know that as thrilling as it looks, the fight between the two strong characters ends with the defeat of Garp and him being held hostage by the Blackbeard Pirates.

Garp vs. Aokiji

The reason that Garp went on to fight the Blackbeard Pirates was to save his apprentice Koby, who was kidnapped by Blackbeard himself. The evil villain had some kind of plan that required him to take hostage of a Marine at a decent post. And now that he has Garp under his thumb, his plan might even look achievable.

While Blackbeard’s plan sounds menacing, no one actually knows what he is actually thinking. However, according to aOne Piecetheory, Blackbeard would most likely try to execute Garp publicly to draw the attention of the World Government. This would entice Luffy to a point where he could declare war against the Blackbeard Pirates, marking the beginning of the final fight.

One PieceTheory Explains What Blackbeard Plans To Do With Garp

Blackbeard holding Garp as hostage is certainly a big thing considering his plans to take control of the whole world. Garp’s authority as a Vice Admiral of the Navy and Hero of the Marines makes him an extremely important figure, whichwould give Blackbeard leverageover the Navy and the World Government.

Thus, a theory has been formulated by u/ionmatrixx on Reddit, where Blackbeard performs a ‘Reverse Marineford’ and plans to execute Garp in order to bring out the big league players from the Navy.

This would allow Blackbeard to carry out whatever evil intentions he is planning.

However, the only problem is Garp’s execution is something that will entice Luffy to a point where he would wage a war on Blackbeard. And this time he will ensure that he saves his family member (unlike Marineford). Saving Garp will most probably boost Luffy’s image in the eyes of righteous Marines like Sengoku, Smoker, etc.

Luffy Saving Garp Would Help Him Take Down Imu

AsOne Piecefans know, Garp neglected a direct order from his superiors by going to save Koby. Thus, if Blackbeard does hold an execution for Garp, there is a big possibility that the World Government won’t act on it. This could create cynicism between the Navy and the World Government.

Plus, Luffy saving Garp would make the Navy (at least the righteous members) believe in his intentions. Therefore, when Luffy finally gets into the battle against the World Government and their Supreme Ruler, Imu, there is a chance that theNavy could rebel against the World Government.

Aid from the heavy hitters of the Navy could be a big boost for Luffy against Imu and the World Government and also help him in defeating them. While this plot has some holes in it, it could make the perfect narrative for the final battle that takes down both major antagonists ofOne Pieceand also help the Navy save their image.
