When news ofHelldivers 2hits social media, it’s typically about some funny moments, a cool strategy that someone’s pulled off, new information uncovered by players, or a nice display of teamwork that complete strangers have managed to pull off.

Well, a recent post on the r/Helldivers subreddit has swerved far away from any of these paths, showcasing a scene that’s hauntingly brutal.
Helldivers 2 Player Horrified After Witnessing Squad Member’s Death
The post, titled ‘Nah there’s no way my character doesn’t get PTSD after that,’ features a video clip that’ll probably have a similar effect on you as what the player’s character probably experienced.
In the video, a fellow Helldiver is seen running and throwing a grenade, only to be suddenly struck by enemy fire. Their head is violently blown off, and they eerily crumble to the ground; their mission of spreading managed democracy across the universe is cut short.

Of course, the comments on the post had a lot of dark humor, but some were genuinely a bit disturbed by the scene that played out in the video.

One user humorously remarked that the player wouldn’t survive long enough to even develop PTSD, a call-out to how quickly and often people tend to die inHelldivers 2.

Another user didn’t find it as funny, stating that they way the player’s headless body just falls down scared them.
Helldivers 2 Players Have Made Their Choice – Say Hello to the Next Big Meta and Introduce Some Freedom
A reply to this comment stated that they found it funny the way the gun just flew in front of the dead player before their body fell. A little hard to notice, when your eyes are trained on watching the aftermath of a head exploding.
However, the conversation took a really morbid turn when one user shared a personal experience from their time in Iraq and how they lost a squad member because of an incident that resembled the one in OP’s video. War is bad and war is ugly, kids.

Helldivers Need to Unite to End Needless Suffering
This isn’t the first unfortunate victim inHelldivers 2‘s cough noble cough fight for managed democracy, and it definitely won’t be the last.
With the increasing difficult of the missions and enemies that have been showing up, it’s evident that players need to point those guns at the Automatons and Terminids, and not at each other. However, it seems likea few bad apples have completely missed the memo.
“The chuckles that happen when you accidentally carpet bomb your friends…”: Helldivers 2 CEO Johan Pilestedt Knows We May Intentionally Be Killing Our Teammates, and He’s Okay With It
Shooting each other in a game that has friendly fire permanently on, just because they’ve got an outfit that you don’t, is the last thing you’d want to be doing; especially when teamwork is the crux of every mission.
Withthe theory that a new mutated species of Terminidsare on the way, it’s even more crucial that the in-fighting ends and people work together to go against the common enemy.
