Rumors and conspiracy theories about Kate Middleton’s elaborately long absence from the public eye have been springing up now more than ever, and British comedian John Oliver has joined this league. Especially more so after the recent photoshopped photoandapology afterward was released by Kensington Palace and issued by the Princess of Wales herself.

In fact, during a recent appearance on a talk show, Oliver made his thoughts of suspicion evident on Middleton’s public apology issued after a photoshopped image of her with her kids posted byherbroke the internet after months of no photographic evidence supporting the claims that she was recovering well.
John Oliver holds suspicions over Kate Middleton’s public apology
Recently, Oliver made his appearance onWatch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. There, host Andy Cohen asked the British comedian about his thoughts on what is actually happening in the Royal Palace following the series of suspicious events of late involving the Princess sharing a digitally altered image, which was followed by a public apology (more on this later).
Answering the same,John Oliverinitially admitted how he was“out”on this entire situation with a“Let’s all just ignore this, we’ve moved on.”But then the digitally altered image of Middleton with her kids popped up on Mother’s Day, which led to the comedian describing the situation as:“It feels like you’re almost handling it badly in an impressive way at this point.”

To this,Andy Cohenthen pointed out,“Isn’t their motto ‘Never complain, never explain’? And then they have her [the Princess of Wales] explaining on Twitter?”This compelled Oliver to make a full-blown revelation about his thoughts on the matter, which he did in a joking manner as he said while admitting the Royalsdohave such a motto:
“There is a non-zero chance she died 18 months ago. They might be ‘Weekend at Bernie’s-ing’ this situation. Non-zero, not saying it happened! I’m saying it’s non-zero until proven otherwise. Until we see her with a copy of the day’s newspaper,”Oliver joked, making a throat-cutting motion with his hand.

While all of this may seem extreme to many, it is only understandable (to some extent, at least) thatpeople are having such doubts about this matterconsidering the recent turn of critically unfortunate events for the Royal Family.
Everything about Kate Middleton’s public apology (if you haven’t been keeping up)
A little context for those who may not have been keeping up:Kate Middletonhasn’t been seen in public for almost three months ever since her last official public appearance in 2023. The reason behind her absence was cited as a“planned abdominal surgery”that she was recovering from, but even with constant updates, there was no photographic evidence to support these claims.

This is whya lot of conspiracy theories started popping up, some of them even claiming some critically wild and outlandish reasons behind the Princess of Wales’ absence. Thus, in an attempt to calm the public conscience, the Princess took to their official X handle@KensingtonRoyalto share an inevitably photoshopped image of her sitting with her three kids with the caption:
“Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months.

Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C

However, instead of making the situation die down, all of this only further fueled speculation on her health and whereabouts. This is whyanotherstatement was latertweeted on Xby the Princess where she claimed she“occasionally experiment with editing”like“many amateur photographers,”and apologized“for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.”

Because of all of these reasons, people are now more suspicious of what’s happening inside the palace than ever, and this situation now has John Oliver in its clutches as well.
