FromSoftware games have some very well-written stories. This is all thanks to the legendary writer and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki. He has been doing this for more than 10 years, and he has yet to make a bad game. This is evident to this very day, seeing how his latest game, Elden Ring, was such a massive success. He has also created some memorable characters over the years. FromDark Soulsto their latest title, there hasn’t been any shortage of interesting characters in these games.

But one character has remained as popular in the Dark Soul series as he was years ago. And if some incredible fan theories are to be believed, this character has met an unusual fate inDark Souls 3appearing as a harrowing creature.
A fan-favoriteDark Soulscharacter seems to have become a monster inDark Souls 3
InDark Souls1, players have to explore a bunch of areas so they can ring a couple of bells to open the path ahead. These areas are surrounded by undead enemies, fire-breathing dragons, and incredibly powerful knights.

Among these problems and hostile characters, players strive to find someone who can be a friend. A person who can give them a brief respite from all the darkness that surrounds them in the game, quite literally. They find one too; his name is Knight Solaire, or Solaire of Astora. This guy is a chill knight who just wants to tag along. He loves the sun, and he tells players that they can engage in “jolly cooperation.”
Eventually, players can summon this cheerful knight for a boss fight. He is one of two characters whom players can call their true friends in that diminishing world. The other is the Onion Knight. Thanks to his cheery nature, Solaire eventually ended up being a fan favorite. There were others too, such as the Onion Knight, aka Siegmeyer of Catarina, and Knight Artorias, but Solaire was always at the top.

Eventually, whenDark Souls 3launched and players found the hidden underground area that was below the catacombs, they noticed something unusual. A lot of creatures fromDark Souls 1could be seen in a dead state there. Players could see the remnants of the past just turning to ashes.
There were a bunch of enemies too, and one of them was the giant sandworm-like creature that made the lives of players a living hell. It just smashes into them, taking half their HP in a single shot and sometimes killing them instantly. If players kill it though, they get an incredible reward too.

It’s a miracle called Lightning Stake. But how does one justify the theory that Solair still lives and is that worm? There is no explanation for the worm. But a fan namedTheAttendeehas an interesting theory. They suggest that if the worm attached itself to Solaire is still alive after all these years. This means there is no doubt Solaire is also alive. If he is alive in some form, then why can’t it be the worm?
But there is an instant debunk for this theory too
This might be a bit disheartening to many enthusiastic theorists out there, but the Sunbro Knight Solaire can’t be that weird worm. The reason is that the itemdescription for the yellow bug palletinDark Souls 3says:
“The grave wardens of Carthus used these to repel a great sand worm. The worm tumbled to the catacombs and proceeded to dominate its new home in the Smoldering Lake.”

This means there is an explanation for where that weird worm came from. It is not the beloved Sunbro, that’s for sure.

That’s not to say he is completely missing from the game; let’s hope he is in the game somewhere and fans end up finding him, eventually.
