While the Cannes Film Festival makes headlines for its world premieres of some of the best films of the year, it also comes under fire for a few unsavory moments. Kelly Rowland, who starred in this year’sMea Culpa, had an argument with a security guard at the red carpet of the festival when she was pushed away from the event quickly.

While Rowland did not expand on what the argument was about, the guard was seen pushing around Dominican actress Massiel Taveras on the red carpet while she posed for the press. Taveras also seemed to have a bitter argument with the guard and was even seen pushing her when the team started to roll up her dress.

A video that sawTaveras debuting her stunning gownfor the night sees her having a fight with the guard and her team, who seemed to have been pushing the actress along. The team could be seen rolling up her dress, which had the picture of Jesus Christ. As the actress made it up the stairs, the security was seen putting her arms over Taveras, at which point the actress shoved her.
Massiel Taveras’ heated exchange caught the attention of fans as this was the second incident at the festival to feature the same security guard. The Dominican actress is yet to comment on the issue, but many seemed to see a pattern in the security team’s dealing of the situation.

The issue also reportedly raised accusations of racism, especially after Kelly Rowland’s statement regarding her own incident with the security guard.

Massiel Taveras’ conflict with the security team at Cannes was the second incident during the film festival this year. Rowland gave a statement to theAssociated Pressat the Cannes Gala, saying that she stood her ground during the altercation with the guard. She said,
The woman knows what happened, I know what happened. I have a boundary and I stand by those boundaries, and that is it. And there were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get that scolding, or pushed off, or told to get off. I stood my ground, and she felt like she had to stand hers. But I stood my ground.

However, colleagues of the guard seem to have come to her defense, saying that she was doing her job. Talking toDaily Mail, some colleagues of the guard mentioned that the team had strict timetables to adhere to and that safety was their main concern. They also disregarded the racism accusations.
