Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of theElden Ringfranchise, is to be thanked that the Soulslike genre is not unplayable and is just difficult instead. Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware are responsible for some of the most difficult and challenging games in the industry withDark Souls 3,Bloodborne, andDemon’s Soulsin their repertoire.

However, unlike most fans believe, Hidetala Miyazaki is responsible for keeping the game’s difficult levels low as he had brandedDark Souls 3“unreasonable” at times to his team during its initial development phases. With fans already having an idea about the difficulty level of Miyazaki’s games, they can only wonder how difficult a game has to be for him to brand it ‘unreasonable’.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Aims His Games To Strike a Balance
The critically acclaimedElden Ringis one of the finest feathers in the crown of Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware.TheShadow of the ErdtreeDLC was so highly anticipated that other developers moved the releases of their gamesso that they don’t clash with that of theElden RingDLC.
“The roots of my fantasy ideas…”: Not George R R Martin but 1 Other Famous Fantasy Writer Is to Thank for Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Bloodborne, Elden Ring, and Dark Souls Ideas
Back in 2016, at an event hosted by the publisher ofDark Souls 3, Bandai Namco, Miyazaki gave quite an elaborate answer when asked about the ‘infamous’ difficulty of his games.
Well, there were of course several moments where I had to stop things and take a step back and consider the difficulty. But it’s not necessarily that I say ‘oh, this is too difficult,’ but instead the term I usually use is ‘unreasonable.’ So, that’s the term I tend to use when I have these conversations with the development team.

Fans can only wonder what other terrifying challenges were originally a part ofDark Souls 3that even Hidetaka Miyazaki found ‘unreasonable’. The various villains of theElden Ringfranchise are terrifying, to say the least, with General Radahn and Melania making players prove their mettle throughout prolonged battles.
With news that Hidetaka Miyazaki is actually keeping the games from being too difficult, one wonders what his team at FromSoftware would have been developing had they not been kept in check by the master himself. Maybe a game like the race for the first key in the movieReady Player One.

What’s Next for Elden Ring?
Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware have mentioned no upcoming projects as of yet. Butthere is a good chance that the next game is not going to be a sequel toElden Ringand instead is going to be something very different from the Soulslike genre itself.
“We worked on the story afterwards”: If Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Elden Ring was Created in the Same Way as Dark Souls, We’d Have Had a Very Different, Arguably Worse, Experience
What this means for the future of the team is anyone’s guess as fans will have to patiently wait for news and updates from the company to learn about their upcoming projects. But one thing looks certain,Shadow of the Erdtreeis going to be the last entry in the Soulslike genre for quite some time. Miyazaki himself has reiterated his wish to work on something different.
Fans of theElden Ringfranchise and the Soulslike genre are left with no updates as there seem to be no new updates in the foreseeable future.
