While Henry Cavill awaits his destiny as Agent 007 in theJames Bondfilms, the producers are reportedly looking at changing up a different aspect of the legendary spy franchise. According to a source, producer Barbara Broccoli is looking at artists such as Bruno Mars and The Weeknd to produce the theme song of the next Bond film.
TheJames Bondfilms have always featured an original song for their grand opening credits sequences. Three of these songs have won Oscars in the past, including Adele’s ‘Skyfall’, Sam Smith’s ‘Writing’s on the Wall’, and Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s ‘No Time To Die’. The new Bond film might have a change in style due to the artists the production is eyeing.

Apart from the iconic ‘007 theme’, theJames Bondfilms have featured original songs that play during the film’s opening credits. The songs are accompanied by gorgeous visuals that artistically depict the film’s primary theme and prominent sequences that align with Bond’s journey in the film. Many of the songs have the title of the movie as their names.

The original songs have been nominated for multiple awards and have even won prominent honors such as the Grammy, Golden Globe, and Oscar.Adele’s‘Skyfall’ from the eponymous film was the first to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Sam Smith’s ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ and Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s ‘No Time To Die’ also won the award.
While Daniel Craig’s exit still leaves the spot of Agent 007 open, producer Barbara Broccoli is reportedly focusing on attracting new fans to the franchise with a different style of artist. A source close to the producer reportedly toldDaily Mailthat Broccoli was looking to mix it up and bring in an artist like Bruno Mars or The Weeknd for the next film.
Barbara is very interested in having the next Bond theme to be more fun, more pop-rock, and not filled with as much sorrow as the last few themes have been. It would be safe to go down that path again, especially since they all won the Oscar. But this next Bond needs to mix it up and return to having a song in the vein of Duran Duran’s A View to a Kill.
Duran Duran’s ‘A View to a Kill’ was the only song in the franchise to have hit the number one spot on the US Billboard Top 100. The source mentioned that Broccoli was also looking at artists such as Adam Levine (with or without Maroon 5) or the Foo Fighters.

While Eon Productions is looking for the next musical superstar to compose for a new generation of James Bond, the franchise has yet to confirm its next leading man after Daniel Craig. Craig began his tenure withCasino Royale, which reportedly also hadHenry Cavillin the running. The Superman star is still the fan-favorite for the role.

However, the actor faces stiff competition from other British stars such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James. The former was rumored to have been formally offered the role earlier this year and was reportedly auditioned behind closed doors (viaThe Sun). However, there have been no confirmations about the casting.
Barbara Broccoli mentioned back in 2022 that filming for the next entry would be at least two years away and that the production would not rush into casting the next Bond. According toDaily Mail, she also spoke about other contenders such as Idris Elba, but denied any casting rumors.
