“With great power comes great responsibility” is only part of what Spider-Man represents. Anyone can be Spider-Man under the mask and the suit. Some fans might not know, but there’s a Spider-Man manga as well! No matter what is going on in his personal life, the friendly neighborhood hero puts on the mask and saves the world, which is the core idea of the manga.

From the art style to the story, the manga explores what it means to be Spider-Man. An anime adaptation of this manga could be the perfect extension and anime debut of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But first, which manga is this and what is it all about?
What isSpider-Man: Fake Redmanga all about?
Spider-Man: Fake Redis a manga by Yusuke Osawa. It was first published in June 2023 but canceled soon afterward. With only 14 chapters, it lays out a great story that would appeal to the die-hard Marvel fans. The story revolves around a high-school boy, Yu, who struggles to keep up with his peers at school. Yu idolizesSpider-Manand what he represents as the friendly neighborhood hero.
One day Yu runs into a boy getting bullied and even though he wants to save the boy, his lack of confidence prevents him from doing so. But when he finds Spider-Man’s suit and tries it on, people mistake him for being the real one. That’s how Yu’s journey as Spider-Man starts, but where is the real Spider-Man?

Yu is essentially an underconfident character who idolizes Spider-Man’s heroism. In his eyes, the superhero is nearly perfect and that’s why he’s so popular. However, as Yu gets to be Spider-Man and goes on the same adventures as the Superhero, he realizes what it means to be Spider-Man. Your powers or popularity don’t make you a hero, but it’s the actions you take.
Yu realizes that a person doesn’t need to be a hero to make a difference. That’s why anyone can put on the suit and the mask, as long as they aspire to bring a change. The manga explores the choicesSpider-Man makes and his insistence on staying on the right path irrespectiveof the circumstances he finds himself in. It’d be great to see the panels ofFake Redcome to life in an anime.

Spider-Man: Fake Red mangadeserves it’s own anime
ThroughoutSpider-Man: Fake Red, the mangaka has illustrated great dynamic visuals. It has the right mix of mystery, drama, and action. All these aspects can be elevated perfectly in an anime adaptation.
As a result of the abrupt cancellation, the smaller number of chapters could pose a problem but this can easily be fixed with original additions to the story that ties it with the massively popular and successful franchise.

Spider-Man: Fake Redis available to stream on Viz Media Website.
