In an interview withSlashFilm, Francis Ford Coppola talked about how he liked Reeves as an actor but he recounted that he should have been a little bit critical of Reeves’ performance in the film.
It was tough for him to affect an English accent. He tried so hard. That was the problem – he wanted to do it perfectly, and it came off as stilted.
He further continued,
I tried to get him to relax with it and not do it so fastidiously. So maybe I wasn’t as critical of him, but that’s because I like him, personally, so much. To this day, he’s a prince in my eyes.
Bram Stoker’s Draculareceived a rating of 7.4/10 on IMDB and an average of 74% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the underwhelming success, the 1992 film remains one of the most iconic films in Hollywood.
