League of Legendsis one of the most celebrated games in the world, with a fan base of millions of people. Riot Games managed to deliver an outstanding MOBA game similar to DOTA, which was a major cause of criticism during the initial years of its release, butLeague of Legendsmanaged to stand out and make a special place for itself, and not just because it was a better MOBA.

Riot’s next big game,Valorant, seems to be following the same path as its predecessor by building upon the foundation laid down by games likeCS: GOandOverwatch, butValoranttoo has managed to emerge independent of its influences and make a special place for itself as a strategy FPS shooter game.
What Makes Valorant and League of Legends Better
According to the main director and executive producer ofValorant, the recipe for the games’ success lies in the genuineness of the team at Riot, which puts their players’ needs before anything else.

During an interview with Inven,Valorant’smain director, Joe Ziegler, and executive producer Anna Donlon spoke about it in detail. Annasaid:
The reason LoL succeeded wasn’t that it was the MOBA genre. It was that the Riot staff understood the needs of gamers well and genuinely tried to provide what they wanted. We believed that we’ll be able to create a good game even if we make a completely new one if we maintain that genuineness.

The ability to understand what the players want has played a vital role in turningLeague of Legendsinto a worldwide phenomenon, and Ziegler and Donlon have been doing the same forValorantas it too follows in the footsteps of its predecessor.
Valorantdraws heavy inspiration fromLeague of Legendsin terms of characterization and team play, as both games heavily rely on the synchronization of teams through the use of their abilities and positioning on the map, with one soul difference of the genre: whileLeague of Legendsis a MOBA,Valorantis a dedicated FPS shooter with League-like abilities

League of Legendshas multiple strengths, including team play. However, some gamers like team play but don’t like the MOBA genre. Ziegler wanted to spread League’s strengths to those gamers by applying it to another genre.
Valorant and League of Legends Are Here to Stay
ValorantandLeague of Legendsare not going anywhere, anytime soon. They have a huge eSports community with a lot of pro players who are constantly pushing the limitations of the game and making it fun for Riot to work on them. Riot’s success is hidden in plain sight; they have always been welcoming to players’ demands and needs, and that is the only reason they have managed to form such a loyal fanbase.
Valoranthas just released its latest Act 9 with exciting skins and a promising foundation for players to start their rank climb afresh. Riot does very well at incentivizing its players with subtlety, and that too is one of the reasons their games are widely celebrated.
