While Sofía Gascón, who plays the titular character and feared cartel leader who fakes her own death to live her life freely, authentically, and as her true self, has been submitted for lead actress consideration,Zoe Saldana, who plays Rita Mora Castro, an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job who helps Perez, will be competing for nominations in the supporting actress race.
But this news of Saldana’s campaign isn’t sitting well with fans. For one, at the Cannes Film Festival, all four of the lead actresses, which includesSelena Gomezand Adriana Paz besides the other two listed above, collectively won the Best Actress prize following the film’s world premiere.
