Although the game works very well in terms of pacing and how the plot unfolds, the show’s writers should choose a different path to present the conflict in the best possible way.

For now, the teaser hasn’t revealed much, but for the show to work, they should ignore most of the game’s storyline or at least present it in a more disordered manner. It will be a fantastic challenge to adapt to the screen.

Neil Druckmann, the director of both games, wanted the second title to be story of hatred and revenge, followed by love and empathy. The decisions made for this second part divided fans, who didn’t fully understand what kind of character Joel was.

In one of the most impactful moments in modern video game history, this character gives way to an unstoppable quest for revenge. After all these changes, the second part’s narrative may be better.

The Series Is a More Than Worthwhile Adaptation of the Original Material

Many fans had their doubts when HBO confirmed it would handleThe Last of UsTV series adaptation. Fortunately, HBO’s faithful and spectacular adaptation of the video game dispelled all those doubts.

The series received praise from all fans, including those who had never played the titles. However, considering the many aspects of the characters in the second part of the franchise, the adaptation of this second season will not be an easy task at all.

It Doesn’t Matter How Good Graphics Get, Games Like The Last of Us and Metal Gear Solid Long Ago Perfected Gaming’s Most Important Feature

There was a lot of speculation among fans about how they would showcase one of themajor controversial characters fromThe Last of Us Part II. Kaitlyn Dever, who briefly appeared in the trailer, confirmed her portrayal of Abby.

A Choice That Raises Many Doubts

The confirmation of the second season almost immediately after the conclusion of the first surprised everyone who followed the series. This raised many questions, given that several years pass between the first and second titles in the game.

This small controversy was followed by the fact that the confirmed roles of the characters in the second game didn’t align with what was seen in the title.

Beyond all of this, the series will likely need to handle the most shocking and impactful moment of the second game differently. HBO may have to delay it or present it in a more disordered way so as not to lose the audience’s interest for season 2 ofThe Last of Us.

The other route they could take is to show it just as it happened in the game, but extend it a bit longer. Fortunately, the trailer doesn’t reveal any of this, and neither confirms nor denies whether or when it will happen. This part requires careful writing by the writers.

A Very Difficult Story to Adapt

What is not yet clear regarding this adaptation ofThe Last of Usis whether or not the second season will cover just part of the second game.

While the potential third season will complete that portion, it is highly likely that the moment where the main character confronts their inevitable fate will occur at the end, thereby leaving a cliffhanger for the third outing.

Another theory suggests that the second season will feature moments from Abby’s perspective, highlighting the damage Joel inflicted by saving Ellie. Using this story and narrative, they could justify Abby’s decision, which would only have its full impact at the end of the second season.

This could be the best decision the studio makes to focus the third season entirely on Ellie’s journey. Several characters from the second game are pursuing revenge, potentially leading to a chaotic plot that prevents the audience from predicting the outcome.
