As you may have seen throughout many of our articles here at DualShockers, we love talking aboutThe Last of Us Part 2. Whether it’s game development news, fan art, reviews, orcosplay,Part 2holds a place in our hearts for whatever reason, even the bad. What many of us can agree on though is how Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie, is one of the most wholesome and funniest people in the games industry, ever. When she’s not playing as bad-ass and obsession riddled Ellie inThe Last of Us Part 2, a key member of Critical Role or as Patterson in the American crime drama television series Blindspot, Ashley enjoys some downtime playing video games and luckily for us, streaming them too.
Over the past few months, Ashley has been going live over on Twitch while mostly playing the puzzle-platforming titleInsideby Playdead. During one of these streams, Ashley can be seen trying to push a wooden pallet across a stretch of water when it occurred to her that it “felt strangely familiar”, obviously reminiscing about when Joel and Ellie were on a similar pallet inThe Last of Us. Deciding to not just leave it at that remark, Ashley deepens her voice into a gruff tone to say “Hey, Ellie get on the pallet!”. continuing with a laugh and back to her normal voice Ashley states “That’s definitely not a Joel voice” whilst apologizing to Troy Baker.
Naturally, Ashley kept the good humor going by trying Joel’s voice again but not quite getting it after another attempt. In all honesty, it just sounded like Ellie taking the piss out of Joel, which tended to happen a lot in the game, hence making it all the funnier. You can catch the clip below or if you fancy watching more of Ashley and her amazingly awkward sense of humor, head over to her Twitch channelright here.

What fan wouldn’t be excited about the upcomingThe Last of UsHBOseries? Recently, we learned that it will include a “Jaw Drop” moment that was originally cut from the game. Chernobyl creator and HBO’sThe Last of Uswriter Craig Mazin said that ”We’re creating new [things] and re-imagining what is already there to present it for a different format,” Mazin told the BBC’sMust Watch.“Our goal is not to keep you in love withThe Last of Us,but to make you fall in love with it again in a different way. It’s a passive way of taking it in, instead of playing it, but you’ll be experiencing more, with more characters in more ways.” Mazin says of his reaction to hearing about a moment that Druckmann had initially left out ofThe Last of Us“Jaw drop – that’s going in. For sure, we have to do that. You couldn’t stop me doing that. You will have to shoot me [to stop me] from doing that.”
