It looks like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered’sshadowdrop earlier in the weekwas a smash hit for Bethesda, as millions of players flocked to check the game out.
In case you didn’t know, Bethesda Stealth released a remaster of Oblivion on Tuesday, April 22. While it was called a remaster, given the improvements made, it was more akin to a remake.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Player Count Doesn’t Disappoint
No breakdown has been given, but I’d hazard a guess that many of these players are from Game Pass. If you’re thinking that this four million might be the number of people who bought the game, chances are high that it’s not, or Bethesda would have mentioned it and not just used the term “have already ventured.”
Nonetheless, it’s still an impressive achievement for an almost 20-year-old game. On Steam, the game managed to hit a peak of 190,119 players perSteamDB. Today, the RPG has a 24-hour peak of 175,000, which is insane for a single-player game.

Oblivion Remastered Releases With Big Price Tag For Big Improvements
Too Expensive? Or Worth Every Penny?
While Oblivion Remastered’s release is great news for gamers, the same can’t be said for other game developers. One head of an indie label even mentioned that the shadow drop of the RPG “buried” indie games, which rang true for some games that were released on the same day.

Even other big games releasing this week, such as Clair Obscur: Exppedition 33acknowledged the release of the RPG. Given howawesome the debut projectof Sandfall Interactive is, I’m hoping Oblivion Remastered’s release didn’t affect it too much.
