Have you heard of The Day Before? It’s this strange survival-action game thathad toprovethat it was real given the odditiesbehind its developmentby the studio, Fntastic. While The Day Before did see a commercial release, it was pulled from digital storefronts just days later, with the developers announcing their closure just four days after the game launched, citing poor sales as the cause.

Here we are, less than a year after that debacle, and Fntastic is back with another “game” titled Escape Factory, which had itsKickstarter campaignlaunch last month that understandably failed to generate any backers.

The Day Before Studio Asks Players for Help in Creating Maps

After the studio’s failed Kickstarter campaign, they have now pivoted to yet another new project titled “Items.” This time around, they are asking people to help craft maps for the allegedly in-development game, which the studio announced in their Discord channel. Fntastic mentions, “This contest is a chance for you to unleash your creativity by designing a map card that, if it wins, will be added to the game in future updates!”

The contest winner, which will be voted on by other Discord channel members, will then have their name featued on the map, and will also get a fre Steam copy of the game. Now, here’s the kicker: the winner will not get any compensation – outside the free game and their name featured on the map. In a statement toTheGamer, a Fntastic spokesperson said, “All the prizes are written in the announcement,” which confirms that yep, don’t expect any money for your hard work.

This Parody Of The Day Before Looks Better Than The Actual Game

The solo developer has dubbed the project ‘The Day After’.

At the time of this article’s publication, there were five people that had submitted entries. Of course, all these submissions won’t mean a thing if the actual game doesn’t come to fruition, right? Items is apparently a prop hunt-style game, and while there’s no Kickstarter launched yet, the studio isconsidering launching oneto help fund its development.

I don’t normally throw the word “scam” around, but after what happened to The Day Before, I would strongly advise people to be very, very wary of anything involving this studio and whatever it is they want to do. I recommendreading this articleexplaning how the game managed to fool so many people into believing it’s the real deal.

Is Items even actually a real project? I honestly cannot say. But based on how Fntastic treated The Day Before, their customers, and how they literally wiped their YouTube channel, and other shady things, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is yet another attempt by the studio to scrounge up some money from unsuspecting people. My take? Keep your money, and play the multitude of real games out there to save yourself stress.
