Colman Domingo has had a colorful Hollywood career spanning decades. A legend himself, he has also connected with many other legends throughout his time in the industry. Although he holds those friendships quite close to his heart, one in particular stands out.

That is, none other than Chadwick Boseman. While it is no wonder that two people of their caliber would click spontaneously, what made their relationship so special was that they had something of a friendly rivalry going on.
Interestingly, not only did no bitterness ever grow from it, but they pushed each other to become the best versions of themselves constantly. As such, his missing his late friend comes as no surprise. However, there is one incident regarding a movie that he still cannot forget.

Colman Domingo still remembers the movie with Chadwick Boseman that cut him out of
Colman Domingohas made a career out of gathering acclamations and accolades for his phenomenal performances. Continuing his legacy, he was recently nominated in the Best Actor category in the Critics Choice Awards forhis highly acclaimed movieSing Singas well.
Although he lost toAdrien BrodyforThe Brutalist, the award season still holds hope for him. Regardless, in light of his ongoing success, he recently appeared for an interview withJosh Horowitzin theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast.

While they talked about his magnificent career, the conversation also turned to the many co-stars he has had through the years.
While he holds deep respect for all of them, one in particular stands apart. That, obviously, is the late Chadwick Boseman. While there are many reasons behind his reminiscence of his former co-star and friend, one specific incident still gives him the laughs.

I was able to do the movie 42. I had a couple of scenes and then they cut the whole character. So it’s funny. That’s always in my IMDb but I’m cut out of the movie.
He further added that they“had a great time together”,and that theBlack Pantherstar always had“a twinkle and a smile”in his eyes for him. Although he was cut out of it,42became a great hit with 7.5IMDbrating.

Chadwick Boseman for his part shone through as Jackie Robinson as the first Black MLB player to be drafted who fought tooth and nail against the racism that ensued his drafting.

Colman Domingo and Chadwick Boseman, though, had been long time friends by then, so the former being cut from the movie didn’t have any effect on their bond at all.
Colman Domingo claimed that he and Chadwick Boseman had a friendly rivalry going on
Like Colman Domingo,Chadwick Bosemanwas also a man of many talents. Both of them took a particular interest in music.
Especially in learning new instruments, which played a massive part in their friendly rivalry. The actor claimed in the interview they would challenge each other with their skills.
We would challenge each other with our musicianship, by learning our instruments. So everything about it was like…’cause we respected each other so much, we were like, ‘Oh okay, I see what you’re doing with that instrument, so now Imma go practice mine even more’.
Colman Domingo further added that he misses him, not only because Boseman loved“sparring”with him, but also because of everything Boseman represented.
He narrated an incident during the actor’s massive Marvel fame when they met after42at the time. While Boseman was surrounded by what looked like“CIA agents”to Domingo, he still noticed the latter.

A heartwarming interaction followed when theSing Singstar congratulated the late actor on his success. According toTheColor Purplestar, even at that moment, Boseman took the time to tell others about him, stating“this one here, he’s the truth. Keep your eye on him”.
So that was Chad, he had enough for everybody. He never believed he was challenged by anything. If anything, he lifted another person up.
Which admittedly is difficult in such a challenging industry, as the actor noted. However,Chadwick Boseman remained the sametill his last day. This quality of him, more than anything else, was what kept their friendship intact since 2005 when they first met during a table reading for a play.
