Fans Not Happy With Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Rumored Role inFantastic Four
The upcomingFantastic Fourfilm is one of the most promising entries in Phase 5 of the MCU. With the property now under the MCU, Kevin Feige and the people behind the project have stated their intention to make the best film possible by rectifying the mistakes of past Fantastic Four films under Fox.
While an official announcement about its casting is yet to be made, one of the highly circulated casting rumors is thatEbon Moss-Bachrachwill be playing Ben Grimm. When the actor was asked byThe Wrapabout the same. the actor added fuel to the fire as he played coy with his reply saying,Oh, I can’t confirm, and I can’t deny, I think.”He definitely wants people to remain guessing until Marvel announces it.

However, fans were not entirely enthusiastic about the rumored casting choice as Moss-Bachrach has already played Micro in thePunisherseries. With all the Netflix-Marvel content now canon in the MCU, there will be a confusing overlap of the same actor playing different roles if he ends up playing The Thing. Here are some of the reactions onX,
I thought the Punisher Netflix series was canon in the MCU. Wasn’t he Frank Castle’s tech guy?

How are they gonna explain him and Micro being the same person tho???

i’d be down if i wasn’t holding out hope that he’d return as Micro again, i loved that character

Except they just made Punisher canon and he plays Micro already, kinda feels like that’s a casting issue no one is really talking about…

It’s funny how Marvel keeps saying the Netflix verse is now cannon but they are getting actors who played different people in the Netflix verse to play different characters in the movies 💀
— Deus Ex Machina 🤖 (@NamekianProphet)July 27, 2025
The actor might not play the character at all and these might all be baseless rumors. If they end up casting him as The Thing, they might have to recast Micro or not include him at all in the MCU. For now, fans should wait for an office casting news from the studio.
