In addition to this, the writer’s room for the fourth season is also reportedly being assembled. Further, production for the same is said to begin as early as 2025. With these updates, fans are hopeful that a formal announcement will be made soon. But if the show would indeed be back for a fourth season, would Jason Sudeikis be interested in playing Ted Lasso again?
Is Jason Sudeikis a Part of Ted Lasso Season 4?
With a possibility of afourth season ofTed Lasso, another major element looms around the corner, with fans wondering if Jason Sudeikis will be back in his role or not. In the season finale, Ted is showcased leading his son’s soccer team back in Kansas, presenting a happy ending for him. So, the fourth season can possibly explore the arc of Richmond without Ted.
Thus, giving a more valuable storyline to other characters such as Roy Kent and Coach Beard. But the final decision for a fourth season lies with Sudeikis, as revealed by Warner Bros. TV Group chairman and CEO Channing Dungey. He appeared at MIPCOM’s C-Suite Conversations in Cannes viaThe Hollywood Reporterand added that the talks of a possible season are in their early stages. He also added:

We are in conversations about season four, and they are very exciting conversations, but it’s still early days. We had always been clear that there wasn’t going to be more Ted Lasso if Jason [Sudeikis] and team weren’t feeling excited about it, and I can tell you firsthand that he’s in a place where he’s feeling really excited and feels good about it.
Dungey placed the major decision on Sudeikis’ shoulders, but in a past interview, the actor himself added that bringing a season back was a big collaborative effort. This happened in 2022 when the actor won an Emmy for playing the role of Ted Lasso and was asked if the show would consider renewal for a fourth season. He added viaScreen Rant:
I don’t know, it’s up to more factors than myself. The response has been overwhelming. We have a tremendous group of writers, actors, people in production and post-production, all of those thrown in the jambalaya of possibility. I couldn’t say yes or no. I know this part of the show is what it’s supposed to be. I apologize for not giving you a direct answer because that’s more helpful for headlines. If I knew, I wouldn’t tell you.
His answer suggested that he was indeed open to the idea of bringing back a fourth season. But it also presented how it would only be possible with the collective collaborations of the cast as well as the crew.
Who Can Make a Return in Ted Lasso Season 4?
With Warner Bros. renewing the contracts ofHannah Waddingham,Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, fans are convinced that these three actors are definitely confirmed for the fourth season of the show. In the show,Waddingham plays the role of Rebecca Welton, the owner of AFC Richmond, and her character changes massively throughout the show. Initially, she was someone who was solely focused on plotting against Lasso.
But as the show progressed, she became one of his biggest supporters, making her a central figure in the storyline. The third season also brought in a possible love interest for her that the fourth season could explore. After her, it’s Brett Goldstein’s Roy Kent that also managed to capture the attention of the viewers.
While he had a very tough persona, occasionally the fans could see his softer side as well, evident from his relationships with both Keeley (Juno Temple) and Jamie (Phil Dunster).

The third season also hinted at a possible love triangle between the trio. However, withDunster reportedly unavailablefor a fourth season, he might get a good chance to rekindle his relationship with Keeley without any issues. Lastly, Jeremy Swift’s Higgins brought in the much-needed comedic relief to the viewers, bringing in some laughs in intense emotional scenes.
And the fourth season could dive deeper into his life outside the club. While these actors have renewed their contracts, Warner Bros. has yet to approach others, including Jason Sudeikis. Though the third season perfectly wrapped up his storyline, it’ll be interesting to see what narrative his character would have if he indeed said yes to the fourth season.
