The finale episode ofSupernaturalreceived mixed reviews from the world. Building the hype and the intricate story for 15 years, several fans were disappointed at how the ending turned out to be.

Although the show had a wholesome end, fans were somehow disappointed with it. Episode 20 of season 15, titledCarry On,is one of the lowest episodes rated on IMDB (6.9/10).

In the afterlife, he is met by Bobby Singer as he drives down the Highway to Heaven on his iconic Impala with a song blasting in the background. We see Sam Winchester carry on with his life and when he dies of natural causes, the two brothers are reunited in the afterlife on a bridge similar to the pilot episode.

According to a report byCollider, writer Andrew Dabb stated that the original ending was going to be on an epic scale. The writer revealed that although the ending followed a similar pattern to what was aired, the location and the characters were supposed to be different.

Dean was always going to end up in Heaven, and we were always going to see Sam’s life in fast-forward. But those final moments were supposed to take place somewhere else. When [co-showrunner Robert Singer] and I sat down to talk about Season 15, and our inevitable end, we came up with something that felt like a fitting version of Sam and Dean’s Heaven.
