Christian Bale as General Zod Would Be an Epic Move for James Gunn

Christian Balehas starred in DC’s highly regardedDark Knighttrilogy back in the day. His contribution to the DC universe has been celebrated by fans and they continue to hope for the actor’s return to DC in some form to this day. With the DCU now rebooting, James Gunn can pull an epic move by bringing back the actor to play an iconic villain.

In 2023, all of the main cast ofSuperman: Legacyhas been announced with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan set to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Supporting characters like Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Metamorpho are poised to deepen the film’s narrative and lore while The Engineer and Lex Luthor are confirmed as antagonists of the film.

Viola Davis' Waller series is expected to start filming sometime this year

However, most fans are not familiar with most of the obscure characters that Gunn has chosen for the film. Even The Engineer is more of a deep cut in the DC lore. Gunn could increase the excitement level of the film exponentially by bringing back Bale to play General Zod, which would be fascinating news for fans. They last saw the Superman-Zod conflict inMan of Steel,

Putting Bale as Zod in the new DCU could repair some of the mixed aspects thatMan of Steelreceived. Additionally, while the film is already jam-packed, the character doesn’t necessarily have to be the primary villain of the film and could be teased in a post-credits scene for the next film. Bale also has already toldEntertainment Tonightthat he would be down for anything good in the superhero world. It is up to Gunn to pull off such a masterstroke act.
