The DCU under James Gunn is set to avoid the mistake that tanked the DCEU gravely from which it never really recovered, which involved introducing the Justice League way too early. But the slate revealed by theSuperman: Legacydirector earlier this year had no mention of any forthcomingJLprojects, but that isn’t to say that there won’t be any.
Considering the initial slate announced in January didn’t involve every project to be released in DCU’sGods and Monsters, Gunn might be saving the JL team-up for the tail-end of the first chapter. And the fascist Justice League could end up playing a prominent part in creating DCU’s Justice League.

The Authority Could Push Superman to Create the Justice League
With the ever-increasing size ofSuperman: Legacy‘s cast, which will be the first major entry inJames Gunn’s DCU, it’ll set the groundwork for the new cinematic universe moving forward. And with one of the confirmed characters being The Engineer, the Wildstorm character, it’s reasonable to assume the Man of Steel will come across The Authority in one way or another.
Furthermore, the next major outing afterLegacyisThe Authority, a fascist Justice League, whose morals are radically different than that of the Man of Steel. Assuming that The Authority might already be a thing in the DCU, the clash between the team of anti-heroes and Clark could motivate him to create the Justice League in order to serve Justice in the American way.

Superman: Legacy’s Production Is Running Smoothly
With the filming set to kickstart in March of next year, Gunn previously assured fans that the film will still be released on 22 June 2025 despite the three-month WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike. The director also revealed that they’re almost done with the suit, and the score is almost written, even though fans won’t be able to witness the suit before the filming concludes. Hestated,
“The costume is mostly done but we’re still going back and forth on some elements. A lot of the score – maybe even most of the major themes – have already been written.”

As of now, fans can do nothing but patiently wait and speculate about how things will unfold for the DCU. And if the Man of Steel does end up creating the JL, this will serve as a great contrast to the previous DCEU, in which it was Batman who does the job in Clark’s honor.
