Integral toStarfield’s sprawling epic is space exploration and the inevitable conflicts it brings. While many conflicts can and perhaps should be avoided, others may seem too profitable to pass up.

Still, newcomers to Bethesda shooters may find the controls a bit unfamiliarfrom traditional FPS games likeCall of Duty, and Starfield addsspace combatto the mix. It is a pleasant mix of action — especially once the controls become second nature.
How To Target Enemies On The Ground
Targeting enemies is key to victory, but doing so is not always easy. The first decision a new pilot needs to consider is whether to play in first person or third person mode. There are advantages to both styles, and the choice comes down to control and aesthetic preferences. In first person mode, Starfield feels similar to a traditional FPS, though in typical Bethesda fashion, the mechanics are a tad stiff. Aiming here, however, is done simply by pointing yourweaponof choice at an enemy. When successfully targeting a foe, that enemy’s name and health bar will be displayed on the HUD.
Toggling to third person view will take the camera out behind the character and play like a traditional third-person shooter. To do this, press the view button on the Xbox controller (that is the button with the overlapping squares). In third person mode, a reticle will display on screen that can be directed toward a target. As with first person mode, the name and health bar of the enemy will display on the HUD, indicating how much damage remains to dispatch the foe. Switching between targets is as simple as moving the right joystick until the reticle lands on the next threat.

How To Target Enemy Ships
While targeting enemies is a familiar affair, targeting and changing the targets on enemy vessels requires a bit more work and a skill (for specific targeting).you’re able to target enemyshipsin combat by hovering the targeting reticle over the ship.If quick target changes are necessary, the player can do so bypressing the X button on the Xbox controller. This will switch targets to the next ship. This may be useful in battle, as the ships are constantly moving and unloading munitions toward the player.
Once the player has unlocked the Targeting Controls System skill, they can target specific parts on an enemy ship. This will allow the player to disable ships without destroying them to allow for theboarding and conquering of foes. Doing so provides the player with a different selection of loot than simply destorying a ship and collecting loot from its debris.
