Building A Chicken Coop
Naturally, if you want blue chickens, you’re going to need acoopto put them in. This can be done pretty cheaply at the start of your playthrough (or, of course, just pick the Meadowlands farm).
Simply go toRobinwith the following materials:
While this may seem a little expensive if you’re in your first spring, you’ll quickly recoup the costs by selling the produceor making the eggs into something more interesting.
While this coop can only hold 4 chickens for now, you can always upgrade it later on down the line to unlock new features likedifferent animals, incubators and auto-feeders.

Becoming Friends With Shane
Once you’ve gotten your coop, you’re going to have to start the process of earningShane’s friendship. This is specifically because the sale of blue chicken islocked behind his 8-heart event. It’s best to try and get this started as quickly as you can, as his birthday is on the20th of Spring, the first season.
If you want to build this friendship as quickly as possible, giveShanethese gifts:

Loved Gift
Brew in a keg by using wheat, or buy from Gus for 400g
Hot Pepper
Plant Pepper seeds in the Summer
Pepper Poppers
Cook by using Hot Pepper andCheese, or buy fromGusorKrobus through their rotating stock.

Universal Loved Gift
Gifts likePrismatic ShardandPearlare always loved, but are probably not worth giving due to their cost and rarity when cheaper options are available.
Whatever you do, don’t give ShanePicklesorQuartz. These won’t go down well.
Remember, if you want to max out this friendship as quickly as possible, Hot Peppers with additional quality on them are going to be the fastest. Giving aGold/Iridium qualityHot Pepper on Shane’s birthday is a brilliant way to get this done fast.
10 Stardew Valley Challenge Runs For Seasoned Players
Stardew Valley has an endless number of challenging runs you can gun for, and these are some of the best.
He can usually be found working in the Joja Mart or the Saloon in the evening.
Completing Shane’s Heart Events
Shane has a certain number of events that you have to get through before you can reach the chicken one. If you haven’t completed these, the blue chicken will never appear for you.
Plus, it’s nice to see Shane on the road to recovery. His story is one of the more difficult stories in Stardew Valley.
2 Heart Event
Once you hit 2 hearts, you can meet with Shaneafter 8 pm in Cindersap Forest. You will share a beer with him while Shane talks about his life. It’ll leave you feeling a little tipsy afterward, stumbling home in the dark.
4 Heart Event
you may trigger this event at any time after reaching 4 hearts by enteringMarnie’s farmhouse. This scene will see you dealing with Shane while he is drunk on the floor of his bedroom. It’s a particularly difficult scene, and it shows the results of his problem affecting those around him.
6 Heart Event
This event can be activated by enteringCindersap Forest between 8 am and 9 pm,but only while it’sraining. You will see Shane sprawled out near the edge of a cliff, as you try to convince him why life is still worth living.
The first dialogue optiondoes notaffect his friendship level, and he will be treated byHarveyin the hospital.
The next day, he will come and see you. Your choice of dialogue will affect his friendship, so pickeither“I was glad I was there to help” or, “I’m just happy you’re still here.” Picking the other option will make him annoyed and decrease your friendship level…so don’t do that.
7 Heart Event Part 1 & 2
Once you’ve completed these steps and increased his friendship further, you can enterMarnie’s Ranch, where Shane will announce that he’s stopped drinking, and due to the money he’s saved, he givesJasa present.
After, you will need to enterPelican Town between 10 am and 4 pm on a normal sunny day. This step also requires you to have2 hearts of friendshipwithClintandEmily, as they are both involved here.
8 Heart Event
Finally, once every event has been completed, you’re able to enter the ranch while Shane is at home to view this last cutscene. Shane will be surrounded by blue chickens, the exact thing we’ve been trying to get our hands on.
He will talk about passing on his chicken knowledge to Jas, and at last, the event is complete. There are, of course, events after this, but this is as far as you need to go if you want blue chickens.
How To Obtain The Blue Chicken
Upon completion of this event. Every time you hatch an egg, be it white or brown, you will have a chance of hatching a blue chicken. This is around a25%chance, or1 in every 4 eggs.
On the other hand, if you don’t enjoy waiting for eggs to hatch, you’re able to instead simply buy one from Marniefor the usual price. Just go through the usual dialogue until it gets to the chicken placement option, and it will say whether your chicken is the normal white/brown, or our prized blue chicken.
Just keep repeating the buying process with Marnie and cancel if you don’t get the chicken you want. You will eventually get a blue chicken. It may just take a few tries. Then you can fill your whole farm with fluffy blue fellows. That would be a sight to behold.
