Socks & Sandals & Ghosts
SpongeBob starts on the beaches of Goo Lagoon after a run-in with Admiral Prawn before being confronted by the Flying Dutchman. After making some back-and-forth small talk, they agree to help one another with their problems. First, SpongeBob has tofind 4 of the Dutchman’s lost socks, which are marked on the game’s HUD. Taking the platforms up to the right of the Dutchman and destroying the lifeguard towerleads to the first sock and a Bubble Surfboard.Taking the Board to the island on the left leads tothe second sock atop another lifeguard tower. After the tower is destroyed, hopping back down will lead players to a button that SpongeBob can ground pound to allow an additional platform for SpongeBob to take and advance forward.
Headed towards another small island with a large, circus-themed button in the middle, will lead to a sunken pirate ship’s masts sticking out of the water. Following these improvised platforms leads tothe third sock, atop another lifeguard towerand guarded by a small group of Jelly Monsters. Headed back down towards the button, Ground Pounding it twice will cause the masts to submerge and circle the island, settling atop a path to the left of where they originally were, opening the path towards the fourth sock.Hopping a series of jump pads will deliver the fourth sock to SpongeBoband trigger a cutscene, showing Larry the Lobster tied to an old pirate ship and held hostage, as another Bubble Surfboard spawns next to the circus-themed button.

Friendly Faces, Abandoned Ships & Jelly Tossing
Arriving at the pirate ship reveals another new Jelly Monster variant to the player. This one is sat atop a unicycle and attacks by swatting a concussive explosive with its massive lollipop. SpongeBob can either trap the Jelly in a bubble or swat its projectile back at it,leaving it open to follow-up attacksand defeating it with ease. Freeing Larry the Lobster reveals that he and several Anchovies were brought over here into this pirate-themed setting, and Larry is sent home with the Magic Bubble Wand. This is also where another chain-able move is learned, Swinging.Pressing the Right Trigger on a hook when prompted will have SpongeBob lasso it to swing forward.
Swinging up will bring SpongeBob to a swamp, where12 Anchovies are being held captiveas Larry had been, and they need to be rescued! 4 of the Anchovies are held on a central island within the swamp, alongsideanother Jelly Monster variant. These Jellies are in homage to theSuper Marioseries' Thwomp enemy, asthey’ll glide over SpongeBob’s head before slamming down an area-of-effect attack on the ground. The remaining 8 Anchovies are held in cages on tiny islands and platforms circling the main island alongside plenty of Tiki Crates and Jelly Monsters to try and impede players' progress. Once all 12 Anchovies have been saved,a Bubble Surfboard will spawn to the left of where SpongeBob first jumped down.Riding it onto an overturned ship, SpongeBob comes up with a plan: Raise the Flying Dutchman’s socks on the usable ships to appear like he’s assembled a fleet to scare Admiral Prawn into returning the Dutchman’s ship.

Players will now be tasked with hoisting the sock flags on two ships docked on the nearby cliffs. SpongeBobonly needs to defeat the Jelly Monsters occupying the ship, and once they’re all defeated, the Jelly coating the ship will disappear, and the sock can be hoisted high and proud on the ship’s mast. Once both ships have been cleared, a Bubble Surfboard will spawn, and a new objective will task SpongeBob with taking the board and tracking down 3 more socks.

Clearing out the Jellies, players can find the remaining two socks as they begin scaling the sand castle. Collecting the second sock andtaking the bridge next to it inside the central towerof the sand castle, SpongeBob will scale a series of collapsing platforms to the top of the tower and gather the third sock, as well as finding Mr. Krabs, who has renamed himself Pinzarossa, and is searching for pirate treasure. Agreeing to help, SpongeBob bangs on drum, summoning additional pirate ships, sohe can glide his way to the treasure at an old shipwreck. The player is shown that gliding through bright pink circles midair will refill the gliding meter and propel them forward, prolonging their flight. These gliding circles will prove essential for the retrieval of the treasure.
After gliding past the pirate ships, players will arrive at a series of small islands that lead to the shipwreck. Headingtowards the left will bring players face-to-face with a mermaidwho wants some music to make her happy before players can proceed. Activating the nearby telescope will show playersa pattern on distant rocks, which players have to Bubble Toss at the massive frying pansin a matching orderto make a musical tune. Once the pattern is matched, speaking to the mermaid again will create the platforms needed to progress forward. Don’t forget to grab theGolden Spatula on the hill behind the shipbefore moving on. Taking the new path will lead to a slingshot that fires the player toward the massive shipwreck. Following the path of collapsing platforms and gliding rings will land SpongeBob on the shipwreck itself. Tilting the ship back will allow SpongeBob to jump up and secure the treasure. Make sure to grabthe Doubloon and Spot that are nearbybefore you leave!

With the treasure secured and a new path blew wide open, players will jump down and take the slingshot back to Mr. Krabs. After delivering the treasure, another salvo of exploding pies will rain down and incidentally blow open a fenced-off pathway that the player can glide down and follow.

Now down in a nearby port, SpongeBob istasked with hoisting 2 more sock flags on more nearby ships, again crawling with Jelly Monsters. This time is different, however, as Admiral Prawn will now continuously fire exploding pie shots at SpongeBob, taunting him the entire time. Navigating the docks to clear out and secure the first shipspawns a Bubble Surfboardthat will lead the player to a series of platform jumps toward the second ship and up toward a massivewooden gate that Admiral Prawn’s weapon fire destroys. This reveals a fleet of ships, three in total, that SpongeBob will have to clear and claim for the Dutchman, one at a time, each separated by jumping challenges of hooks and platforms. The second ship contains another familiar face, Fred the Fish, the infamous ‘MY LEG’ characterfrom the animated series, which he references as he’s acquired a peg-leg during his time as a pirate as he’s sent home.
Once the third ship is secured, SpongeBob and Patrick are reunited with the Flying Dutchman and are tasked withpropelling ship-to-ship to reach the Dutchman’s boat, signal his crew and defeat Admiral Prawn. The journey towards the ship is a series of gliding circles, hooks, floating platforms, and slingshots, back and forth across the assembled ships of the Flying Dutchman’s fleet. Players will have to repeat this step again on the main deck of the ship, which will lead to SpongeBob hoisting another sock on the main mast, signaling the Dutchman and his ships to rally and confront the Prawn, who rants in anger as he fires the cannon and again accidentallyclears a pathway for SpongeBob to progress further.
Having reached the top deck, SpongeBob is again confronted by another wave of Jelly Monsters and exploding pies, as Admiral Prawn has found himself cornered. Once the last Jelly is defeated, SpongeBob will have to Ground Pound a button to fire the main cannon, knocking down Admiral Prawn and leaving him at the mercy of the Flying Dutchman. With his crew and ship re-acquired, SpongeBob blows the Magic Bubble Wand and takes himself and his house back to Bikini Bottom.
