Isolation is the sixth chapter ofSplit Fiction, a co-op game about two authors, Mio and Zoe, who are trapped in a glitched simulation of their creative writing. This occurs after"Rise of the Dragon Realm.
In a desperate gambit to prevent the spread of the glitch and trap our heroines forever, greedy tech billionaire Rader decides to force Mio and Zoe into their subconscious creations before they can escape, sending them deeper into worlds unknown.

10 Best Co-Op Puzzle Games
These are the best and most puzzling games for best buds to play around in.
Now trapped in a sci-fi world even Mio doesn’t recognize, the two must make their way through a prison ship and free a mysterious prisoner.

As part of alarger collection of Split Fiction walkthroughs, here’s a comprehensive guide to Chapter Six: Isolation.
Warning: Story spoilers ahead!
Chapter Abilities
Our heroines now wear hi-tech suits that allow them to control morph balls that later turn into their armor.
Mio Abilities
Mio controls a nanobot drone that has multiple configurations that allow it to roll like a ball, drift in the wind, and many more. Most importantly,it lets Mio hack into other pieces of tech.
As armor,it allows Mio to directly hack into machines and inhabit robots.

Zoe Abilities
Zoe’s controlsa magnetic ball that can stick to surfaces indicated by a green hue.
As armor, the polarity of Zoe’s magnetic powers reverses, allowing her to insteadrepel objects and levitate on magnetic surfaces, channeling her inner Magneto.

Prison Ship
As the chapter begins,wall-run and grapple outside the prison. You’ll then arrive at a laser grid.Grapple on the spring and to the next one while avoiding the laser wall.
Then, grapple to the points spinning clockwise around the engine. Since there’s a laser wall blocking your way, jump counterclockwise around the engine to survive.

Once both of you grab onto the hanging poles, the platform will raise, allowing you to proceed.
Continue to climb and swing, and eventually you’ll come across poles protected by super-heated panels and taser fields.Carefully slide up and down the poles and time your dashesso that you don’t get zapped.
At the end, you’ll need to jump on a pole and slide down (without jumping off) and let it carry you to the other side.
You’ll encounter two poles protected by taser walls. Climb up the one on the right and hold onto the section that’s connected to a wire, which will deactivate the taser wall on the left.
Help each other deactivate the taser walls by climbing up the poles and touching the panels.
Stand on the top of the poles, which will release some hooks that you can grapple and stand on. Step off and get on the next platform.
You’ll then arrive at a jumping puzzle with two pairs of jumping pads separated by a wall. This puzzle requires precise timing,as jumping on the pads pushes them down, making the other side available.
You must help each other swing the pads to the other side.To do this, both of you need to jump at relatively the same time(with a slight delay from one person).
As one of you grapples onto the pad and jumps up, one will appear on the other side.Grapple onto the jump pad and keep passing them with your partner until you reach the end.
To give yourself slightly more air time, double jump to slow down the momentum of your fall.
Climb up the ladder and activate the elevator, which will trigger a cutscene.
Handy Drones
After a brief conversation with a mysterious prisoner, you’ll find two ball-like drones that you can control. They’ll go through a pipe and come out on the other side.
For the next five subchapters, you’ll be controlling your ball drones.
Roll down the stairs, where you’ll learn their abilities. Mio’s dronecan flatten into tiny individual nanobots and crawl into tight spaces, while Zoe’s drone candefy gravity and stick onto walls and ceilings as long as you hold the button.
Continue navigating the area. You’ll learn thatZoe’s drone can jump between surfaces(as long as they are in range) andMio’s drone can float up any shaft with a strong enough air current.
With Zoe’s drone, stick onto the blade of the fan. You’ll need Mio’s help to get up the platform, who will float up to the platform andhack into the terminal.
Rotate the fan by turning the analog stick counterclockwise.Once you’re safe and sound, use Zoe’s drone to smash into the grates and enter the pipes.
8 Best Co-Op Sandbox Games
Building something pretty next to your friend’s dirt hut has never been easier than with these games.
Break the hatch and drop to a section where you’ll jump betweenplatforms that lean on whichever side is weighed down.
Drop into the pipe, and down the rabbit hole you go.
Down The Rabbit Hole
Roll down the pipe, and you’re now outside the prison ship.Use your drones' abilities to their fullest extent to navigate the area.
You’ll eventually arrive at an elevator.Use Zoe’s drone to lift the panel for Mio to hack into, and move the elevator down.
Keep rolling, and you’ll reach a warehousewhere you’ll hack into a crane to carry Zoe’s drone across the laser wall.
First, magnetize onto the panel, which will activate a vent for Mio’s drone to float up. Then, hack into the crane and move its magnetic panel over the laser wallto position it near your platform. Smash the door open.
You’ll arrive near a jetwhose engine you can activate to blow Mio’s drone across the chasm.
On the other side of the gap is a hookshot that Zoe’s drone can magnetize to. Use the hookshot to help Zoe’s drone cross to the other side.
You’ll then findtwo magnetic panels you’re able to repeatedly jump between, which activate alternating solid light platforms on a bridge.
Brute force seems to be the best way to solve this puzzle, asyou can just spam the magnetic jumps to maintain the light bridge.
Now that you’re both on one side, lift the panel and hack into the terminal, which activates the lift that will carry you down into the Hydration Facility.
Hydration Facility
Once you’ve arrived at the Hydration Facility, you’ll learn thatMio’s drone can reconfigure itself into a boat that can also carry Zoe’s drone across the water. Thanks to this, you can easily bypass the first platforming puzzle.
Because Zoe’s drone is lenient and can adjust its position midair to land onto Mio’s drone, you don’t have to be extremely accurate with your jumps.
Drop from the waterfall and magnetize onto the panel, which flattens it for Mio’s drone to swim under.Jump back on it and swim through the turbines whilehopping over the beams.Open the gate and jump over some more fences.
Just after passing the turbines, take a look to the right before entering the next area. Investigate some air bubbles coming from the water, and you’ll earn the"We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat" trophy.
Magnetize and stick to the dam, which raises the water levels.Carry Zoe’s drone to the left, where it’ll magnetize to one of the spokes of the wheels.Quickly make your way to the other side and catch Zoe’s drone. Proceed onward.
Open the next gate and go your separate ways. While Zoe’s drone is doing some platforming,Mio must wait at the other side of the waterwheel.Catch Zoe, and go to the next puzzle.
Magnetize and activate the vents to carry Mio’s drone to the other side. Then, hack into the terminal, giving you control of a series of wheels.
Much like the large fan earlier, you can control the wheels by rotating the analog stick of your controller.
Jump between the rotating wheels. One of them can periodically heat up to destroy your drone, so you’ll need toquickly spin the wheels and time your jumps.
You’ll then land on a maze ball section, where you can rotate the magnetic strip to slowly shift between the super-heated walls.Zoe hints at the best way to solve these puzzles, saying,“Progress with direction, not speed.”
The easiest strategy is to stay calm.Let Mio rotate the strip to where Zoe can inch towards the next layer until you reach the end.
Smash the lid away, and you’ll be carried to the next area.
Prison Courtyard
In this section, you’ll need to cross the Prison Courtyard, which ispatrolled by many automated turrets and drones that will shoot on sight.
With Mio’s ball, hack into a sniper turret, which fires a beam that stuns any turret it hits. While using the sniper turret, you can reposition yourself by moving along the rails to get better angles. You can also zoom in for added accuracy.
You don’t always have to zoom in, as the crosshairs are pretty accurate already. Shooting enemies in quick succession is required at times, which may be easier if you’re zoomed out.
These drones have lights that indicate different states:
With Mio’s help, navigate the courtyard while avoiding the patrolling drones. You’ll then reach a moving crane. Shooting the yellow circle will move the crane to the other side, but be careful of a drone watching the area.
With Zoe’s drone on the crane, stun the drone and shoot the yellow circle to move the crane, allowing Zoe to get off safely.
There’s another trophy to collect here! Right after crossing the gap with the crane, Zoe can find a cardboard box to wear. If Mio shoots/kills Zoe while she’s wearing the box,the “Snaaaaaaaaake” trophy will be yours.
Continue to stun drones while helping Zoe cross the next area.
As Zoe, move your drone to a nook with a crate, and wait for Mio to shoot the drone blocking the magnetic wall, which can be shot through the fan. Once the two patrolling drones leave, move quickly and up the wall.
There’s a skeet shooting mini-game for you to play with each other. Zoe can push the button on the left to release a clay disk for Mio to shoot. Unfortunately, there’s no achievement/trophy for this; it’s just a minor detail for you to enjoy.
From this point on in the subchapter, we’ll assume that Zoe will navigate the area automatically. We’ll be directly addressing the player controlling Mio’s drone.
Stun the drones while Zoe jumps between magnetic walls.Pay attention to the next area, as it is patrolled by two drones. It should be quite easy toline up a shot where you can quickly stun both drones with relative ease.
Rotate the first crane by shooting the yellow button twice. Then, shoot the next button to move the crane. Stun the turret that’s looking left and right for Zoe to cross.
Next, you’ll seethree buttons that activate curtains to block a group of drones' line of sight. Shoot from left to right.
Then, stun the patrolling drone and shoot the yellow button, allowing Zoe to hide behind a moving crate. While this is happening, keep stunning the drone to make sure it doesn’t kill Zoe’s ball.
Zoe will then get on top of the crate. Shoot the button again to move it.Open the hatch and both of you will hop into it.
Pinball Lock
If you like pinball machines, then you’re in luck.Hack into the terminal, and you’ll now control a pinball-inspired level, using Zoe as the pinball. The game will teach you the controls for this level to control your flippers, plungers, and bumpers.
Boost Zoe up and into the next area, and use the flippers to launch the ball upwards to hit the two bumpers that release a hatch, leading to a lane that carries the ball into the next section.
Pull the plunger back and launch the ball, where it’ll circle to another flipper that you’ll use to launch into a habitrail.
The only time Zoe needs to move or jump is on flat surfaces or if her ball is stuck. Have fun playing pinball!
Next, flick the next flipper to open up a path for Zoe to go through.Launch the ball into a lane on the left, which will carry the ball onto a moving platform if you time it right.
Launch the ball up with the red flipper. It’ll take a few tries, but you canlaunch the ball at the right anglewhen it’s almost on the tip of the flipper.
Turn on both flippers to let Zoe jump across. Then, pull the plunger back and launch Zoe upwards, flicking open the flippers to create surfaces and openings.
Use the plungers to launch Zoe up and into some habitrailsand then onto some magnetized walls.Keep navigating some straightforward puzzles in the pinball machine until you reach a maze full of plungers.
Here, you’re able to’t just pull the plunger back all the way;you’ll need to gently launch Zoe’s ball to where it can cross over to the other lane without touching the super-heated gears.
In the last lane, launch Zoe up and activate the flipper and then immediately deactivate it to catch the ball.Launch the ball with the flipper, carrying it over with the subsequent flippers and into the habitrail.
Help Zoe navigate the area, and then you’ll begin a boss fight with the Pinbawser, who fires missiles at Zoe to systematically destroy the stage.
Speed is of the essence, as the boss will destroy pieces of the stage if you take too long, forcing you to restart.
Help Zoe escape by flipping the ball with your paddles and plungers until you reach an enclosed area.
Take the fight to Pinbawser and launch Zoe into the air, whereher drone can magnetize and knock the boss' head down.
Knock the boss' head into the spinning bumper to deal damage. The boss will need a second to recover, so use that moment to escape.
Use your left and right flippers to open gaps and launch Zoe to help her escape. As she’s going up, you’ll see three rails whose paths are unclear.Flip Zoe to the rail on the right, which will drop her on the platform above.
Keep passing the ball between your flippers and into a habitrail, which will carry Zoe up into the next arena.
Like before, bring down the boss’s head, which will drop to the bottom of the arena.Use the bottom flippers to launch the boss to one of the side ledges, and fire Zoe to the same side for her to push the boss into the top flipper to deal damage.
Be careful not to launch Zoe’s ball into the bumper!
The boss will then recover.Launch the ball into the rail and continue to help Zoe escape.
Pull down the plunger for Zoe to roll down an opening(but don’t release it until she’s in the clear).Pull down the next plunger for Zoe to get on,and slowly carry her up to the next area. Keep bouncing up and face the boss for the last time.
Launch the boss, and then Zoe, onto one of the floating platforms where she can magnetize and push the boss into the bumper to deal damage.Do this until the boss is defeated, triggering a mechanism to unlock the gate.
Unfortunately, Mio and Zoe don’t hide in time and are knocked unconscious by a security bot right after this epic battle.
Execution Arena
You’ll wake up in a death match arena whereyou’re about to be executed by the ironically named .exe-QT-3.14.With no way of fighting back, your objective is to survive.
The boss will first pull his fist back, indicating where it’ll hit, andlaunch a rocket punch across the arena four times.
Then, he’ll startfiring missiles at you, which are telegraphed with red markers, followed by a barrage of buzzsaws.
9 Best Co-op Games For Couples
Couples that love each other, play with each other.
He’ll thensweep the arena with an all-encompassing flame, which can be avoided byjumping with the yellow launch pads that close and activate another one nearby. He’ll use his flamethrowers twice.
The boss will then go under the arena, which separates into six pieces, shifting to a top-down perspective. He’ll start blasting underneath the platforms, so keep moving and jumping between platforms he’s not focusing on.
You can increase your chance of survival by staying far away from each other, as the boss can only blast one platform at a time.
Eventually, he’ll start blasting with two hands and begin destroying half the platforms.
Your drones will come to your rescue, wrapping around you and turning into armor.Time to fight back!
The boss will bring down his fist, revealing a magnetic panel that Zoe can repel with her magnetism, forcing the boss to hit himself three times before his hand falls out. Stop hitting yourself!
Mio can then hack into the fist, charging it into the boss' face and punching him three times, breaking the fist in the process.
He’ll then tear his arm out of its socket andstart whacking the arena. He’ll start batting missiles into the arena as well.Keep running to avoid getting hit.
Surviving his attacks will make him mad, making him throw away his improvised bat andslam his fist into the platform.
You know the drill.Hit the boss a few more times, and he’ll start hovering above you, igniting his thrusters to attempt to burn you alive.
Next, he’ll go to the other side of the arena and sweep the floor with his eye lasers.Jump over them as he turns faster and faster like you’re playing jump rope.
He’ll get increasingly frustrated and will keep spinning his head until he starts malfunctioning.
Hack into his skull and button-mash to pop his head off. It’ll land on the floor, where Zoe can decapitate him and turn him to scrap for good.
Waste Depot
You’ll fall and slide down a pipe. For now, you’re separated, so do whatever you can to make your way through.
Mio will be hacking into rusted roombas and platforming, while Zoe will swim her way through the area.
You’ll both eventually reconvene at a bridge—Mio at the bottom, and Zoe on top. With Zoe’s magnetic field, push the platforms down for Mio to jump across.Do it slowly so that you don’t accidentally crush Mio.
Continue navigating through the wastes, and you’ll come across a machine whose arm you can repel. This moves the hand to Mio,who can jump onto and wall-run to the next area and hack into a floating machine.
Magnet-jump over the fence and onto the machine, andpush the swinging door to reveal a new path.As you approach a fence, the boss’s head will drop and sink into the acid. Press on.
A magnetic panel will reveal itself in the toxic sludge. As Zoe magnet-jumps over the fence, quickly move to the other side of that fence to catch her.
Dismount the machine and run up the hill. You’ll find a trash transport to your left andthe fifth bench for the"A Tale of Two Besties" achievement/trophy.
Hack into a trash bin and open the hatch to let Zoe in. The transport will take you to a trash compactor.
Cell Blocks
You’ll arrive at a trash compactor that threatens to crush you, along with a locked door.Hack into the door to disable the security systems.
As Mio,your goal is to move the ball in this lockpicking mini-game without touching the connectors, which you can toggle with the right trigger on the controller.
Meanwhile, use Mio’s magnetism to repel any open panels of the compactor. There will always be one open, sokeep an eye out and be quick if you don’t want to turn into a pancake.
Once the door is unlocked, exit andjump on any of the prisoner transports.
Do some platforming and climbing until you reach a door. Open it, and a combat encounter will commence.
You’ll facemagnetic bots and hack-able flying drones.Mio can push bots away and expose the dome-shaped cores, while Mio can hack into the flying drones and shoot the cores.
Once all three cores are destroyed, you are allowed to leave.
Proceed to the next area, where you’ll learn some new mechanics based around your abilities.
Mio can hover in midair between two magnetic walls, while Mio can inhabit and control machines to use them as vessels.
You’ll then arrive at a wall of cell blocks, whichMio can manipulate for Zoe to move across.
Once on the other side, Zoe can magnetize the crane arm torelease the drone for Mio to jump through.
Next, you’ll see a wall of magnets and a single panel with a terminal at the back.Hack into the panel, and both of you can move together.
Drop to the next row of magnet walls. To your right is a small area where you may activate terminals and release cell blocks to drop Leo and Vincent, who are clear references to Hazelight’s first game:A Way Out.
You’ll need to proceed to a corridor with a row of magnets hammering a wall. The game does not explicitly show this, nor does it show you any hints, butyou can wall-run through the corridor while repelling the magnets.
You’ll then find a Tazer-Bot,which Mio can control and extend its taser-nose for Zoe to use as a bridge. There is a magnet on the back of the bot for you to throw Mio across gaps.
Want another trophy? As Mio, zap Zoe with the nose of the Tazer-Bot. Easy.
Once you throw Mio across the first gap, cross the Tazer-Bot’s nose to the next platform.
Then, extend the robot’s nose through the gap and jump around the wall. There, jump on the nose from the other side and open the door with magnets and launch Mio across.
With the Tazer-Bot, extend the nose again and make wide swings through the fences. Jump across the gap and push the platform down for Mio to cross.
Finally, use the Tazer-Bot to connect with the slot at the bottom of the transport, opening up a grapple point for you to swing from.
Hack into the cell block and exit through the toilet, and then hack the gate lock to open it for Zoe to jump through.
The cell block will take you deeper into the prison, closer to the mysterious prisoner.
Maximum Security
After a brief cutscene and some traversal, you’ll arrive at somelaser grids that you’ll need to avoid with precise timing.
Jump across some poles with two moving lasers, and you’ll then reach two bridges with different laser patterns.
We recommend taking the path on the right, as the lasers are much more predictable.Just stick to the right side of the path where the vertical lasers won’t hit you,and you’re able to jump over some slow-moving floor lasers.
There’s a cellblock thatyou can open and sit inside for a brief conversationbetween Mio and Zoe.
There’s yetanothertrophy opportunity here. If one of you uses the control panel to lock the other player inside the cell, you’ll earn “No Way Out.”
To proceed, you can hack into a machine that inserts a rod into a receptacle, which turns a beam counter-clockwise for you to walk on with a magnetic panel in the middle.
You can adjust this rod and panel as much as you need to. It’s better to inch little by little than to overshoot.Hover above the magnets and rotate the beam between the laser walls.
Next, use Zoe’s magnetism tounfold two rolls of magnetic sheets to form bridges for both of you.
Then, hack into the terminal and slowly move the bridge forward while Zoe walks to the other side.
Slide down the tube while avoiding laser walls. Leave the area.
You’ll reach an area with two rows of magnets and a grapple point.Zoe will stay below and Mio will grapple to the platform.
Hovering between the magnetswill not only let Zoe move through, but also unfold a roll of metal sheets for Mio to cross.
Mio will thenclimb a pole protected by lasers, and then hack into a robot mouse to reach the other side. Meanwhile,Zoe will use the magnetic sheets to block lasers and cross the bridge.
Mio can then hack into a machine that forms ladders.Descend to the bottom of the rail, and let Zoe magnet-jump to the bottom of the ladder and climb up together.
Unfold another roll of metallic sheets to block another laser grid. You’ll then reach a dark room.
Stop! Don’t enter it just yet. There’s an invisible laser grid that will vaporize you the moment you take the wrong step.
With Mio’s abilities, hack into the black light drone to reveal the invisible lasers.Stay close together, as you’ll need the light to see where the lasers are.
The black light drone is immune to lasers, so you may hover anywhere as long as your path isn’t blocked.
The path isn’t as straightforward as it seems.Navigate the complete laser grid and hug the left wall.Dash through the moving laser grid, and there will be a grapple point that can help you cross the chasm.
Not so fast! There are lasers on the grapple point, too.Use the drone to reveal the lasers, and time your swings so that you don’t get zapped.
There are also lasers on the edge of the other side, so locate those lines and land safely.
Once through,magnet-jump and land to your right to crawl under some more lasers.Continue navigating the maze until you reach the doorway.you’re able to now both exit through the small slot.
Once you leave the drone, it’ll stop revealing lasers. Park the drone right where the hole is so that you know where to jump.
Unfold the sheet and slide down. Take the elevator up.
You’ll then encounter a giant laser-cutter that will chase you with a powerful beam.Run!
Unfold the sheet at the end,and time will slow.Mio will then hack into the laser-cutter to cut the beams around the perimeter.Use Zoe’s magnetism topush away latches to expose any hidden beams.
While you’re cutting, some robots will come and attempt to stop you.The large humanoid ones will stun the laser-cutter, while the small floating ones will try to slow you down by repairing the beams.
Once the beams are cut, the floor will break, and Zoe will fall. Mio will catch her just in time. Like Tom Cruise inMission: Impossible, you’ll be hanging from a wire while precariously navigating a series of laser grids.
Mio will be controlling the drone’s vertical movement, while Zoe can control the horizontal movement.
As Mio, position the drone just above the lasers. When Zoe is ready and in position, move down as quickly as you’re able to. Remember:Precision over speed.
Once through, you’ll free the prisoner and find outshe’s a dark reflection of Mio.She attacks you, beginning the final subchapter and boss fight.
The Prisoner
Dark Mio is as powerful as she is menacing.
As the manifestation of Mio’s hyper-independence, deeply rooted trust issues, and toxic anger, Dark Mio wields a deadly scythe andwill try to cut you apart with an onslaught of melee and ranged attacks, all the while taunting Mio.
Dark Mio will begin the fight by slamming into the center of the arena, creating a series of patterned lasers on the ground that you’ll need to jump over.
She’ll then fire a barrage of slashing projectiles before throwing a ball at you, whichMio can hack to expose its magnetic core for Zoe to throw back at Dark Mio to damage her.
The targeting is not automatic, so you’ll need to aim in the general direction of the boss.
Dark Mio also has another suite of attacks. She can slice in a spiral-like pattern on the arena that detonates and kills anyone in its path.
Dark Mio can alsoslash across the arena, telegraphing where she’ll attack before doing so. She can also rain projectiles at you from above.
Eventually,Dark Mio will grab Mio, slamming her into the ground.Fight back by button mashing, while Zoe pushes Dark Mio away with her magnetic powers.
The boss will then summon dozens of clones that will surround you before slashing forward and attacking you herself.
The attacks will keep coming until Dark Mio grabs both of you and takes you to a different area whereyou’ll do some platforming while avoiding her projectiles.
In this section, she’ll be raining projectiles non-stop.Keep chasing Dark Mio with all your previous traversal tricks from this chapter in full use.
Use the giant fist to punch Dark Mio through the gate, and then unfurl the metal sheets to form a bridge for both of you to cross.
Next, hack into the poles that can unfold into platforms. Cross the gap and the boss will start throwing a magnetic ball at you.
Throw it back at her, and she’ll pass it back to you again.Return the ball one more time and you’ll damage her.
Another cutscene will play. Mio will hack into Dark Mio, entering her mind. The arena will then change for the final phase.
While you’re inside Dark Mio’s head, your goal is to stay alive while Zoe survives the boss' attacks in real space.
Dark Mio will slash the air and launch waves of projectiles at you. She’ll then cause the platform you’re standing on to become hazardous,so you’ll need to magnet-jump off before it zaps you.
Eventually, the boss will prepare to pounce at you, indicated by a green circle on the floor. This leaves her vulnerable to your magnetic pulses.
Three will stun the boss, opening a grapple point for Mio to grab and disable one half of the brain.
Do this one more time, andthe brain will split apart for Mio to hack into the middle of the brain, gaining control of Dark Mio completely.
While you’re controlling Dark Mio,grab onto one of the magnetic balls and throw it at Zoe,who will then throw it back, damaging the boss.
As Mio here, don’t continue catching the magnetic ball as Zoe throws it back. Though your instincts in this first-person view may tell you otherwise, let the ball hit you.
Rinse and repeat. This time, the boss will be much more dangerous and aggressive with her attacks.
Grab another ball and damage the boss, which will trigger a struggle between Zoe and Dark Mio.
You’ll notice there’s also a button-mash prompt for Mio.This is a trick, and functions as Dark Mio’s fight against Zoe.
If you’re controlling Dark Mio,let Zoe button mash and impale Dark Mio,which will defeat the boss and relieve Mio of her emotional turmoil.
Thus ends the chapter Isolation.Enjoy the cutscene, then move on toThe Hollow.
