In a recent interview withVGC(viaGame Rant),Takashi Iizuka, the head ofSonic Team, stated that the team would “love to” remaster theSonic Advancetrilogy. Iizuka’s comments give a hint at a possibility of reviving these classic games, though nothing is confirmed at this stage.

WhileSegaand Team Sonic areinterested in the project, theyhaven’t yet had the opportunityto begin working on a remaster. Iizuka’s enthusiasm, however, does give hope to fans who have been waiting for years to see theSonic Advancegames updated for modern platforms.

Could We See a Sonic Advance Compilation?

Iizuka also mentioned Katsuyuki Shigahara, the director ofSonic Originsand a game designer forMario. Shigahara discussed thetrend ofremastering older gamesand bundling them together in one compilation, a concept Iizuka finds appealing.A compilation of theSonic Advancetrilogy, similar toSonic Origins, could be one way these games make a comeback.

Still, Iizuka was careful to manage expectations. He said that nothing is set in stone, noting that he’sopen to any opportunities that may arisebut has no firm plans to announce.
