The teaser forThe Fantastic Four: First Stepshas started many conversations among Marvel fans. Ranging from analyzing every single frame to making comparisons to other versions of Marvel’s first family, it is safe to say that a lot of expectations have been put on the upcoming film.
One of the more talked-about comparisons that fans are making is in regard to Sue Storm. Although it is undeniable that Vanessa Kirby is the perfect cast for the role of Invisible Woman, many are arguing that Jessica Alba’s version cannot be topped.
While there are more than a few supporters of the same, some fans believe that the quality of Alba’s performance as the character is seriously being blown out of proportion.

Jessica Albaplayed the role of Sue Storm in 2005’sFantastic Fourand 2007’sFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. The film has certainly been seen as the more accurate version of the beloved team compared to the 2015 film. While the film certainly has its dedicated audience and has become iconic in its own way, there is no denying that it has its flaws.
One of the lesser talked about problems in these films is the character Sue. Despite being integral and acting as the glue that holds the team together, she was pushed aside and was used only to further the story of the characters around her.

Additionally, her powers were used more as an appeal to her male audience rather than being taken seriously. While some might argue Alba’s portrayal of the character was formative in the eyes of many, it can also be said that the impact had more to do with her appearance.

In the few scenes that were shown of the actress in the teaser ofThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, it is evident that Kirby is doing better justice to the Invisible Woman than Alba did.

However, many have been bringing up Alba and stating that her portrayal was so iconic that she cannot be replaced, regardless of how hard Marvel tries. While there could be an argument to be made for this, others have been quick to shut down such conversation, being very candid about their thoughts on why they believe that Alba’s version isn’t the best example of a good Sue Storm.
Over the years,many have focusedon the writing aspect of her character, stating that the actress did the best with what she was given. They believe that she could not do much with a character that was poorly written and was doomed for failure.
True. Nobody else has ever been that famous with that little talent and a complete inability to do anything believably on film.
