It’s been a while since we have been hearing rumors around a remake of the originalThe Last of Usentry, but nothing official has come out yet. Now, the speculation around this unannounced project intensifies as it could target a 2022 release!
The Development Process for The Last of Us Remake Is Nearly Finished
According to a recent leak from Tom Henderson, which was then backed by unknown sources fromVGC, The Last of Us Part is in the final stages of the development process and could be launched in the second half of 2022.
This probably falls in line with Neil Druckmann’s recent words at CES 2022, where he said that Naughty Dog was dying to share more information about the multiple projects that are currently in the works.
According to the rumors and the job listing page of Naughty Dog, the studio is also working on a standalone multiplayer experience, which is assumed to be based onThe Last of Us Part 2, and probably the promised Factions game mode that was delayed to a later date before the game’s launch back in 2020.
Tom Henderson claims later in his tweet that Sony is also preparing The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer and The Last of Us 2 Director’s Cut for later this year as preserves forGod of War Ragnarok’s possible absence in 2022 if Santa Monica couldn’t deliver the game until the deadline for any reason.
It’s yet to be seen whether the PS5 remake ofThe Last of Uswould be available on PC, but regarding Sony’s current direction toward PC gaming, it’s probable to have both titles from the series coming to PC in 2023.
