The awards season created a unique bond among Best Actress nominees Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone, but Stone’s win over Gladstone did not sit well with many fans. Stone won her second Oscar for her role as Bella Baxter inPoor Things. Lily Gladstone, who played the Osage woman, Molly Burkhart, in Martin Scorsese’sKillers of the Flower Moonwas expected by many to win the Oscar.
Lily Gladstone’s Oscar snub is also a loss to the Native American community, as she would have been the first Native woman to win the award. However, the competition was tight between Stone and Gladstone as they both won several other awards, beating each other, throughout this awards season.
