In atweetpublished via theResident Evil Twitter accountover the weekend,Capcomhas stated it will be addressingResident Evil 4 Remake’s ‘flickering lights’ glitch in an upcoming patch. Occurring as a sudden flicker of blue light along the bottom of the screen, the glitch is reportedly unique to the PlayStation 5 version of the game. While the glitch does not seem to have any game-breaking effect, the splash of color it adds to otherwise somber or horrific scenes can be a tad annoying. Capcom has suggested several methods for players to follow in order to temporarily remove the glitch.

Saving and exiting the game is one such method: should the glitch appear on-screen, Capcom recommends that players move to the nearest typewriter, suspend their progress, and exit to the PlayStation 5 menu before closing out of the game completely. Restarting the game from here should remove the glitch.

If the glitch continues to crop up, however, Capcom recommends either a) turning off the Depth Of Field setting or b) setting the camera’s Motion Blur to ‘on’. According to the tweet, only one of the two suggested setting changes is required to temporarily quash the glitch.

Twitter users have taken to the tweet’s comment section to affirm that the proposed setting changes do indeed work as a temporary fix. “Turning motion blur on stopped it for me. Will turn it off again once it’s patched tho,” says Twitter user@koala1986. “Seems to have fixed it for me,” adds@ClaireChaotic, “however, I prefer blur off because it gives me motion sickness…” Capcom has yet to give a specific date as to when the glitch will be fully patched.

Resident Evil 4 Remake released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 24.
