Raft, a survival experience in the making for over 5 years, is now aiming for a console release as the developers launched the 1.0 version of the game on PC earlier this year. As spotted byEuro Gamer, The developer Redbeet Interactive officially confirmed in a recentSteam postthat the work on the console has already begun, without providing any further details.
While the target platforms are yet to be revealed, the developer says they “strive to be able to release it on as many platforms as possible.” Redbeet Interactive clarifies that “it is too early” to give a release date for the console version, but the studio will do its best to make the console version as good as the PC experience.

As a survival experience, Raft was officially released as a free project on Itch.io, but the developers expanded the game’s scale by adding more survival elements, making it an exploration-based survival where players start with a tiny boat and get to build their luxury swimming castle on the ocean.
Raft started its Steam launch with an Early Access release back in 2018, and it took the developers 4 years to finally launch the full version of the game in June 2022, which includes a story-driven campaign, co-op mode, and explorable islands and underwater areas.
Labeled with a “Very Positive” review tag on Steam, 93% of reviews suggest the game is worth trying, which is an outstanding achievement for the developers, and an indie project that took over 5 years to become a full experience.
It is unlikely to expect to see anything from the console version of Raft this year, but fans could have high hopes for next year if Redbeet could finish the porting process in a year’s time. Raft is currently available for $19.99 on Steam, and it doesn’t require a high-end PC to run well, which is the reason why we can expect the game to release on both current-gen and last-gen consoles of Sony and Microsoft, and maybe a native Nintendo Switch version as well, though no official confirmation has arrived yet.
