A brand new PS5 update was deployed today (July 8), but don’t get your hopes up for any new features or changes as the update appears to be a standard ‘stability improvements’ patch.

Unlike previous updates, the PS5 update released on July 8 doesn’t come with a new DualSense Controller update. So when you’ve finished installing the latest system software version, you won’t need to plug your controller in to update it.

PS5 System Software Update (July 8)

As mentioned previously, the PS5 update released on July 8 appears to be a standard patch to squash some bugs and improve the overall stability of the console.

Considering it has been a month since the previous PS5 update, it’s no surprise that the console could do with a further stability update.

The update is available for download right now, and should automatically begin when you next turn your console on. Players will need to manually install the update once it finishes downloading.
